I don't have a background in physics, so I was trying to figure out which physics I should take. I have heard mixed things about both classes. Which one do students usually find "easier?" Thanks!

Physics 1101 is fine if you’re a bio major or premed.

Both courses are fine in the fall, 1101 doesn’t require as much math though if that’s your weak point. It’s just the spring semester that hard for both courses and thats when you really have to decide whether you can self-teach yourself or do lecture style.

I am predental.
So 1101 is more theory based/memorization vs. 2207 which is more calculations/applications based?
Since 2207 is calculus based, do you really use a lot of calculus? I have heard that it’s only seeing something like integrals…not sure if that is true.

I took 1101, and did not like it at all. It isn’t very hard, but takes up a lot of time.

My friends have told me that 2207 does not use too much calculus. Many students complain about 2207 because it meets 6 times a week.

If I HAD to be pick between the two, I would probably pick 1101 again. With 1101, your schedule is a lot more flexible. Furthermore, the exams aren’t timed (you get ~3 hrs/quiz), unlike prelims in 2207, so if you’re a slow test-taker, 1101 is better.

If I were to do it again, I would take physics somewhere other than Cornell. Most med schools are fine with this.
