physics 8A restricted?

is it reserved only for Jrs? i tried to telebears it and it said it had restrictions on it. why would 8a, an easier version of 7a, have restrictions when 7a doesnt?

it's actually students with junior standing AND new registration = transfer student

before it wasn't during phase I back in May, but the class filled up so fast the transfer students couldn't get in. So 2 new sections were reserved just for transfers. The sections will become open enrollment later in August, but the instructor said a ton of ppl (between 50-100) are still trying to get those last 20 spots.

as you can see it's already frustrating enough trying to get into premed classes... more frustration with adding on econ prereqs too

scheduling woes will be part of life at cal.

still, try showing up to physics 8a on day 1 to see how to get into the class. I'm thinking some ppl will drop from Fajan's lecture and maybe some from Jacobsen's. Still, planning a backup plan now would be ideal.

wait, so are you saying some classes can become restricted later on? is this just based on the prof's decision or is this automatic for some classes?

thanks for the advice and yeah, it sucks :|. i have a backup just in case(several actually, as i went on a mass scheduling frenzy over the past few days b/c i was nervous/bored :P). Is there still a chance i might squeeze into the class during the new openings in august? and is just showing up at a prof's class a commonplace tactic for getting into a class? seems like a strange idea.

it was the prof's decision. Jacobsen received more money from the department after phase I was over; the extra funds weren't expected.

as long as there are spaces there is a chance you can get in. I don't know how the prof is going to accommodate ppl who still want to enroll in the class when instruction begins, but I'm assuming he's going to say what to do on day 1.
