Is it possible for freshman to sign up for this in the fall via telebears?

The restrictions info from the schedule.berkeley.edu entry says:

Restricted to Students with a registration status of new and Students with a class level of Junior

If those are 'or' conditions, you should be fine to sign up as a first semester freshman otherwise waiting until junior year semesters (based on credits earned not calendar years).

There are only one or two openings in the required discussion sessions (as of last night) per the schedule application - I wouldn't waste time dithering if you want to take this and believe your math and other skills are suitable.

Are we still considered new during spring semester?

I'm an incoming freshman and I just tried to enroll in this class and it said that I didn't meet the criteria...

Odd, not sure why based on the listed restrictions and lack of pre-reqs.

Any idea how I can still get in?

the physics 8A classes were intially all filled up.
However, my MCB counselor emailed me about 2 weeks ago to let me know that they opened up about 25 seats for new transfers or indidviduals with junior level standing ONLY.

i think you can sign up as a freshman...but the seats were already taken.

Thanks. So now my only other chance to take this class is my junior year?

um. i think i may have confused you. i think they changed the restrictions 2 weeks ago to new transfers and juniors only.

This may help you though... in my email it says that they will remove restrictions on august 25 and the remaining seats will be open to all students.

^^ Yea Jacobsen acquired more $$$ to open up a new discussion section. During Phase I back in May the class completely filled up. Transfers from other schools didn't even get a chance to try to sign up (b/c of later telebears appt times) so Jacobsen reserved a section just for them to enroll.

If you really want to get in you'll have to sign up for it the minute the restrictions are removed on the 25th... the professor said there's nearly 100 people dying to get in and there's also no waitlist.

oh snaps. thanks for the heads up!
I tried signing up last night too Sambo and I got the same restrictions.

That sucks. We're paying them so much money for this education you'd think they would open up enough discussions for anyone who wants to take the class.

Haha seriously. And I heard Physics 8A was suppose to be pretty easy/manageable.

Yeah, especially compared to 7A which is for engineers and scientists.
