Physics B or C?

Whats the difference between the two classes and what do you guys recommend i take?

This class will be for senior year, i have taken AP Calc AB but I also have not taken any physics class and have no background in physics besides what i learned in physical science freshman year.

I’m fairly certain Physics B is a prerequisite for Physics C… Anyone know?

Physics C is definitely a more challenging class; however, if you’re strong in science (and math to some extent) and B is not a prerequisite, then I’d advise taking C.

ya at my school the so called prerequisites are never followed so we can basically take w/e we want

AP Physics B is non-calculus based and is usually useless for any kind of subject credit for majors that require physics at universities. It is best thought of as more of a high school physics course, but with a higher minimum standard.

AP Physics C is calculus based and tends to be more useful for subject credit at universities (although not all accept it, or only accept Mechanics but not E&M, or accept it only for certain majors – e.g. accepted for biology majors but not physics majors).

Check the universities you are interested in to be sure about subject credit.

On the basis of what you learn, you will learn physics better in AP Physics C than in AP Physics B, if you are good at math (calculus). So even if the university gives no credit for either, you may want to choose C over B.
