any good advice for studying Physics SATII? I'm going to take them sometime in the fall. which test prep book is best for physics? any other study guides besides test prep books and textbooks? I'm not a natural in physics, but I'm willing to work hard.
i'm using the princeton review AP physics book to study for the physics SAT II, but I heard that the physics SATIIs is a lot different from the AP (Physics SATII more conceptual than AP), should I get a different test prep book?

From what I've used...Sparknotes was ok, and PR was pretty good. I'd say use PR but maybe pick up a few other practice tests and review of areas that aren't covered. Barron's is a little intense, but if you have time for a second book, it might be very helpful.

I got an 800 using:

PR - for good practice problems and review. Some review is hard to understand though, for which you can use...

Kaplan - great explanations of concepts, REALLY EASY practice problems. For the best practice problems....

Sparknotes Tests - the best practice questions. I swear 1-2 of the questions I saw on a SN test were identical, word-for-word to the official test I took. Speaking of which...

Real SAT IIs - buy this for the one SAT Physics test by the CB. Also do the practice problems on CB's website.

Combined with your AP study, you should be set for an easy 750+ score (the curve is really generous). Your AP study alone may be sufficient, as my friend took the SATII with no prep and got a 760

so i guess..
Princeton's good for practice
Barron's is great for extra practice and
Kaplan's good for studying the concepts yea?

For me Barrons was perfect. Also, AP Physics B is pretty similar to SATII, so (assuming your book is AP B) the practice will probably be useful. The Barrons AP Physics B book has a lot of identical pages to Barrons SAT II Physics. I liked it because it gives an in depth conceptual understanding of the subject.

Haha on the other hand I hated Barron's because it was rather difficult to get through :(

I took AP Physics B this last year and likewise, i wish to take the SAT 2 Physics.

I already have an AP Barron's book that i got a 3 with, would that sufficient? If not, what are some other alternatives?

ipodless: Since you got a 3, it depends where you are in terms of MC vs. FR. Did you feel you did better on MC? Because of course SATII is all MC. I think going over the Barrons AP would be good practice, but just to get a realistic idea of where you are, take practice tests that are designed for SAT. Sparknotes is free (and accurate IMO), the official tests from that big book are good indicators too, just to see where you are, assess strengths, weaknesses, etc. so you can focus your preparation.

And of course it's important to note that you should get the book that is right for you and your style of learning. lolcats for example didn't like barrons, so I guess it depends on what you like (I hated kaplan for example. didn't look at PR though). Maybe try one of lolcats suggestions to supplement your barrons.
