UVM is a great public, has a wonderful education department, and Burlington is an amazing, beautiful small city with endless things to do. If you are out of state did you get good financial aid? UVM can be pretty expensive.

I'm assuming you mean UMass Amherst. I hate it there. It is just too huge, covered in concrete and has a dominating/sketchy frat scene. There is a reason it is called "ZooMass". It is however a great, easier way to get access to the 5 colleges (Amherst, Mount Holyoke, Smith, Hampshire and UMass).

Charliecb16- I don't know what your interests are, and what sort of environment is best-suited for you, so I suggest University of Texas at Austin. Its business program is very well reknowned, and highly ranked (though, rankings aren't everything).

hey demgirl. im also thinkin bout the enviroment. im an international student from south america.. and i have never lived in the US..where do u think i would adapt better in Illinois or Texas? also.. doesnt Northwestern have a more prestigious name in the US?

In general, Northwestern is considered to be the most prestigious overall. However, the University of Texas is believed to have one of the ten best undergraduate business programs in the country. Purdue and Northwestern's undergrad business programs aren't as prestigious. Also, if your concerned about prestige, you should take Purdue off of your list. Academically, it is not as prestigious as the other two.

Now, in terms of cultural adaptation, Texas and Illinois are very different. Texas has a much warmer climate. I've never been to Texas (I have spent a lot of time in the area around Northwestern), but I have heard that it is somewhat different. I don't know you, so I don't know whether Texas or Illinois is better for. However, I have a feeling that you will do fine wherever you go. I suggest that you go to the school that makes you feel most comfortable. The University of Texas will probably have many students from Texas (though, a significant portion of the student body will still come from other places). Also, I don't know about the University of Texas' greek life, but I do know that Northwestern has a lot of fraternities and sororities. If you want to explore different parts of the US, you can travel during breaks from school.

Charlie - The U. of Texas is one of the largest universities in the world - 50,000 or more students. Huge classes, little personal attention. NU has 8000 undergraduates. How important is it to you to avoid being anonymous?

of course, u of texas is huge. but i would be going to the business school which is about 4000 undergrad and only 800 freshmen. i believe my clases wont be very large...hopefully, becuase i like to stand out wherever i go. but to me its quite important the reputation these schools have in the US, and in which will I find a better job after graduation.
