So I wasn't thinking when I signed up for orientation more than a week ago, and I just picked the last date, session E.

Then it just occurred to me that I'm going to be signing up for classes that week, and since it's the last session, will all the good courses be filled up?????

hopefully not! I have a friend who is going to University of Vermont and they only allow x amount of kids per orientation session to sign up for x courses as to allow kids i nlater sessions the opporunity to pick the classes they want. I am sure the same is true of NYU.

That was not my experience. I find signing up for classes very dependent on your lottery pick and/or orientatiion as a freshman. It is very much first come first served.

Do you mean registering for classes NOW or registering for your first-semester classes? Because registering for all subsequent semesters is dependent first and foremost on your number of credits completed and then on random lottery. Registering for first-semester classes may be affected insofar as a recitation may fill up more quickly than you expected, or the specific section of a language class you wanted is filled up because they just figure that you can take another recitation/section. But they certainly leave spots open in actual lectures that don’t have equivalents taught by other professors/TAs.

I think I’m just not going to worry about it. Like someone I know thankfully pointed out to me, I should just be happy that I’m going to be able to go to NYU :).
