@hailtopitt1787 – I was hoping you could answer a question for me. My son has been accepted to a number of schools including VA Tech, RPI, Drexel & UMD/Engineering. Somehow he did not end up applying to Pitt and we are now finding out what a great school it is for engineering. I am wondering what the chances are of applying now (I understand Pitt has rolling admissions) and having everything work out in time for the May 1 decision day that most schools seem to have. He has a 4.3 WGPA, upper 1400s for SATs and is ranked around 60th in a class of over 400 students. Also, is there any chance of still getting any merit scholarships or is that out of the question this late in the game?
I appreciate your insight, realizing it might very well be too late for Pitt to be an option for him. Thanks so much for your help!
Of course, he should still apply! I really can’t tell you the odds of getting accepted by May 1 but you can look at our class profile to get an idea of who we admit: https://oafa.pitt.edu/explore/class-profile/
The sooner he applies the better, it typically takes 4-6 weeks to get an answer so please encourage him to apply soon.
Unfortunately, no he would not qualify for our University scholarships at this point because the application deadline for those was on December 15. We do have other programs in place to make Pitt more affordable, you can learn more at https://www.affordability.pitt.edu/
@hailtopitt1787 Apologies if this has been asked and answered. How many kids got off the waitlist for Swanson in the last few years? I realize it changes from year to year, but we are hopeful that our student will get in off the list. Also, when are students notified if they get in off the waitlist. Thank you so much.
I’m sorry, I don’t have an exact answer for this. By May 1 we expect students to commit, if they don’t commit by this date, waitlisted students will begin filling spots on or before June 1.
