Pitt Merit and Parents as Faculty

Is there any correlation between having Parents as faculty members at Pitt and receiving merit based scholarships? I applied at the start of October and have not heard back from them about scholarships (have been accepted though) while several of my peers have gotten scholarships but their parents are not faculty that applied around similar dates.

Me too. My parent works at Pitt, so I’m worried that I won’t be awarded any financial aid. A lot of my friends have gotten their merit scholarships with similar stats

@MarginalCost and @emilyfv2010 this isn’t something that we take into account when looking at awarding merit scholarships. There are students who have received scholarships and have parents who work on campus.

Good luck!

@hailtopitt1787 Alright, thank you so much for this news!

I also have one more question, I’ve heard from my peers who have received financial aid that the letter comes by mail. Is there any other way we would be able to see our merit information (perhaps if somehow the mail was not reached by us)?

Hi @MarginalCost, merit awards would only come by mail and only those who receive an award will be notified.
