Okay so we mailed in our check last week, for the full amount owed, and I don't think they've received it yet. My issue right now is, just a couple of days ago a $1.00 chemistry lab fee showed up. So now I will have all but $1 covered and the deadline is tomorrow. What am I supposed to do?? Is this going to be an issue or can I just pay the $1 there or something? Why would this extra dollar just show up uuugh I haven't transferred in or out of any classes since my Pittstart in June

Iam sure you can pay it online. If you have any questions about the additional fee just call them tomorrow.

When we paid my daughter’s bill online (from a checking account), it posted immediately. You could submit the $1 payment tonight if you are concerned about it posting in time. I would also recommend calling tomorrow to make sure they received your check and that everything is in order.

A few years back my daughter changed her meal plan after the e-bill was posted. I was concerned about getting a charge for a payment plan which would be the course of action if the entire bill wasn’t paid. I either called or sent an e-mail noting the changes (lowering the amount due) and said I was paying that amount. They said no problem. Just call or send an e-mail.

That is a strange because the lab fees are usually more than just a dollar. You can pay online using your checking account. I would just pay it online versus taking the chance of getting hit with the late fee ($50). It does post immediately.

Okay where does it say whether they received my payment or not? Under Transaction History all there is is a ***. And under Most Recent Ebill it still has the original amount I needed to pay. However, under Student Account Details it shows
“8/13/10 Payment -thenumberamountIowed”

uuugh I’m so confused.

Oh and the chemistry lab fee is messed up anyway. There was a charge for $37 marked chemistry lab fee already in my original owed amount. Then the extra dollar just randomly shows up, separate from the $37 but still marked chemistry lab fee, on August 11. Really frustrating and I haven’t been home all day to deal with it so now I’ll have to tomorrow

The most recent ebill will not reflect your payment. Ebills are sent on a specific date so it is not updated until they send a new one out. Look under “student account details” – your payment will show up there.

Okay in case anyone was wondering how Pitt handled this… I emailed last night at ~7pm CST and woke up this morning to an answer Since the fee was changed after the ebill was generated, the extra dollar isn’t due until September 17th. This won’t be a problem for me because I can just pay it in person once I get there. Yay Pitt haha

I’m not surprised with their response. You are in good shape if your biggest problem was worrying about paying a $1.00 charge!

I wish they would integrate the Panther Card with Pitt Pay. Tried to load up my son’s card on-line this morning, and was told the (parent) site for that has been down since May. Anybody else think that’s lame?

They will take a credit card over the phone or mailed-in check.

I loaded some Panther Funds for D through her account. Have your son logon to my.pitt.edu, then you can navigate to the Panther Card area to load funds. I was able to use my credit card there.

I’ve been Pitt Pay-ing electronically using my checking account. Works like a charm!

Mrsref or anyone else who has used a credit card…
Do you know if there is a fee from the college or the credit card company if you add funds via credit card? Thanks

They also have machines around campus where you can add money while you are there. The one I know for sure is in the Towers lobby. It’s like an ATM that takes your money instead of giving it to you. What will they think of next?

There was no fee from Pitt, and so far no fee has posted from the credit card company (the transaction was on 8/18/10). The credit card transaction came through with “Panther Central” as the merchant.

If we need to send D money once she’s on campus (she’s supposed to be on her own, but stuff happens…), I’ll transfer from my checking account to her checking account, and she can move it into Panther Funds if she wishes.
