Right now I am looking at University of Puget Sound, Bowdoin, Skidmore, Wllamette, Pitzer, Colby, and Colorado College.
You might want to take the SAT (and/or the ACT again). My thoughts: Pitzer, Bowdoin, Colby, and Colorado are reaches, I don’t think Pitzer or Bowdoin are worth applying too at all. Skidmore is a high match. University of Puget Sound and Willamette might be safeties. You do not have enough match schools on your list, in fact, not any true matches at all.
Thanks for the reply! I am actually taking the ACT again in October and I am anticipating getting a 31-32. I figured that Bowdoin was a crazy reach but I think I will still apply anyway One that I am curious about is Pitzer and why you listed that as such a high reach. Could you tell me what I could do to improve my chances? Thanks again!
Pitzer is test-optional and they place high importance on community service from what I understand. My daughter’s best friend was accepted with a GPA lower than yours and did not submit test scores but she had lots of community service and is an URM.
My daughter attends Pitzer and was accepted with a lower GPA than you (but a higher ACT score). She felt that her community service and social justice focus went a long way in getting in – those core values and the focus on social sciences/humanities were really what drew her to the school and it has been a good fit. I think it’s definitely a good school to have on your list given your ECs and interests, and I would really highlight those aspects in your essays and supplements. And since it’s test-optional so you can decide whether you want to submit your test score or not depending on how you do the next time around. Good luck!
