<p>i don’t remember getting an email about taking the placement exams, it was really just something to look into yourself. you don’t have to take the placement if you don’t plan to take a course (meaning you don’t have to take spanish placement if you don’t intend to take spanish classes etc)</p>

<p>Hey, jennifer7, do you get the results immediately (i.e., if you took a placement test on July 7th, did you have your results in time for the July 8-9th SPOP)?</p>

<p>i took my placement earlier just to be safe, but i think the results came out fairly quickly (maybe the next afternoon or so). both of mine (spanish and math) were multiple choice so that would have been easy to grade. even if your results aren’t up by the time you can register, if i remember correctly after SPOP ends you will still have a day to enroll before the next SPOP group.</p>
<p>HOWEVER i don’t know if having your result automatically puts the result on your record that would allow you to enroll, so i would recommend taking the test earlier if you can</p>

<p>When my daughter took the placement test last year, she received the results online that afternoon. She took the placement test on a Sunday, results were ready for SPOP the next day.</p>
<p>Good to know, jennifer7 and jeryh2… since we’re in NorCal, we’re trying to minimize the summer trips to UCI (but my son will need to take a foreign language placement test).</p>
