Does anyone know what the online placement tests are like? If, hypothetically, one were to do poorly on the math section, would GW require that the student take a not-for-credit high school-level math course? I know Maryland used to do this -- the student would have to pay for the class at the regular tuition rate, but no credit was given for the course. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Do not even worry about placement tests. They really mean nothing. The advising here is weak and no one will be over your shoulder saying you can’t take that class because of your placement test. Additionally, most students are smart enough not to take classes out of their skill/knowledge level. I’ve heard many cases where students talked to the professor about taking a class without a prerequisite. But back to your question, once you get one campus I do not even think any one will even mention those tests. However, they could have changed their processes.
