Placement Exams

Just to fill the rest of you in, Penn isn't so hot with accepting AP exams. Some departments, namely biology and chemistry, make you take placement exams in the beginning of fall semester in order to get credit for their respective intro classes.

Any current students have advice about preparing for these exams?

bump.... any current students?

Yeah just try to get the topics and study for the exams. lol

Two years ago, the chem test was mainly free response like the AP tests but harder.

Are these exams reflective of the typical UPenn exam in terms of difficulty?

haven't taken any myself but I watched others study their asses off for them... the opportunity to get credit for an entire class in one test is very appealing. I've heard that they're supposed to be equivalent to a final in the courses, but to suggest that there's a 'typical' Penn exam would be crazy. They're tougher than AP tests from what I could tell, as they fit Penn's curriculum in chem, bio, math, and physics, not the AP curriculum which most people have prepared for.
