What can you tell me about Placement tests, Esp. Calculus?

If you plan on taking French or Spanish, you take your placement test online. Otherwise, you take your foreign language placement test during orientation.

As for calc, there is no placement test. If you get a 4 or 5 on the BC exam, you get 8 credits for 1310 & 1320 and a 4 or 5 on the AB would be 4 credits for 1310.

do you have to take a placement test even if your AP score exempts you, on their website I read that a 3 gets you exempt from foreign language in french, but is that on the condition that you pass the placement test.

If your AP score exempts you then there is no need for you to take the placement test. You should only take the placement test if you did not receive a qualifying score on the AP exam.

I would just verify the testing situation re: AP credit via whoever is listed as the contact person on the specific department website as an undergrad transfer advisor.

There is another thread about how there is no calc placement test for the college, but there is one for the eschool. If that doesn’t help maybe you should post in that thread so that the info is all together in the future. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-virginia/946029-regarding-placement-exams.html and then also you can google for past threads on calc placement as well…
