Plan II Acceptance Letters

Applied to Plan II on October 8th and BHP on October 10th.
Definitely before oct.15th. Haven’t heard from Plan II and got deferred from BHP :/

^That’s odd, knightrider. I applied ON December 1st and just received acceptance letters for both Liberal Arts Honors and Plan II. Weird…maybe yours is coming?

probz not. just gonna sit and wait for the rejection
i have good stats; I probably didn’t do the essays right

oh well.

Relaaax. They’re probably still reviewing applications. Don’t give up yet.

I was told the next round of decisions goes out end of this week. Everyone is supposed to hear by end of February.

Where exactly did you hear that the next round of decisions goes out at the end of this week, downintheweeds?

Any more people gotten their letter? I’m still playing the waiting game. Applied December 1st.

Applied early before oct. 15. Rejected from BHP, accepted to mccombs, and still waiting on plan II and LAH.

So, is this indicative of rejection? Especially since (some) kids that applied AFTER the priority deadline are finding out before kids that applied before it?

@crb1395 - from Jennifer Scalora.
She said they “should” go out at the end of the week. I haven’t received anything.

I know other honors programs at UT have already started having events for admitted students. Does Plan II have any, perhaps later in the Spring?

My daughter who is an auto admit received Plan II acceptance early last week. I think the Plan II app was submitted during Thanks Giving break.

I submitted my Plan II app on December 10th (the last day of the extended deadline) and got my acceptance letter in the mail today! Wonderful surprise, to say the least.

Oh and I am in state and was not top 8% - maybe that gives a bit of hope to some people!

So out of everyone here, what’s your top college choice? Is it Plan II at UT?

My top choice is Rice, but I know that’s a big reach. Plan II is a close second, though. I’ll probably end up going to UT even if I’m not accepted into Honors.

Thatblonde, Big congratulations! and thanks for sharing some of your stat. Your post is somewhat encouraging some of us who are out of top 8 or 10%. My D is currently in top 15% at competitive school in Texas. I cautiously guess she could be around 10 - 12% at the end of her junior year. Can you share why do you think you were admitted? Thanks in advance.
'

Thank you, Rafael!!

It’s good she goes to a competitive school, because I’ve heard (not sure) that UT recognizes relative difficulty among schools in Texas. I, myself, go to an extremely competitive public school at which most of the top 20% could be within the top 5% at many other schools. When I sent in my app I was in top 11% (top 10% with senior year), but I feel that the name of my school helped to put that number in perspective, as I’m sure it will with your daughter.

My stats are 4.56 weighted GPA, National Merit Finalist, 2210 SAT, and 33 ACT, but I really think I got admitted because of my essays. They were honest and passionate. I took a risk for the influential person essay and wrote about my mother (everyone: “NEVER write about a parent! That’s what EVERYONE writes about.” Whatever.) teaching me algebra when I was really young. For the issue essay, I wrote about creative learning. One essay even had a typo (whoops), but hey, maybe a mistake here and there can be endearing? Probably not. Still proof read.

Anyway, I think one of the beautiful aspects of Plan II is that they admit people, not statistics. I get the feeling that they really try to see who the applicant is as a person AND a student. I just showed them myself in words.

Sorry this is so long. I have a rambling problem.

I feel the same way ThatBlonde. I took a risk with my essays and I think it worked. I was too nervous to read them between submitting them and getting accepted into Plan II, but after being accepted, I read them over and there were a couple of typos. I was totally embarrassed and didn’t know how I had missed them. I was hoping maybe the essay readers missed them too because they were super small. But hey, guess it worked!

Thatblonde, Cwillbounds,
Thank you very much for sharing your success. It is really helpful. I wish all the best of luck in the new journey at your most favorite college.
