**Plan II???**

loneranger: I applied mid December and I still haven’t heard anything. Does this mean they are still thinking or does that mean they haven’t sent out the rejection letters yet?

Accepted :)

how many of you guys are definitely going?

Doti: i think they’re going to keep sending out notifications through April 1. on the admissions thing it says that most people should hear around that date, with a few hearing back in the weeks before. i wouldn’t worry about it just yet.

^ I am NOT definitely going haha. Most of my options will get eliminated on March 31st, though :)

I’m with hookem on that sentiment; I won’t know anything until April 1st, unfortunately.

Reeeeeejected.
No worries though, I don’t like hard decisions. It’s LAH for me!

^ When I was at the Honors Colloquium, the directors of Plan II and LAH both agreed that, basically, “most accepted applicants get into one or the other, but rarely both.” I’m not saying they work together, picking and choosing, but they can tell which students fit better in which program. Anyway, don’t feel bad about the Plan II rejection! I’m sure you’ll do great things in LAH!

I am, currently, finding it very difficult to choose between LAH and Plan II…

I am hoping I get to go out of state so that I will not have to make this incredibly hard decision!

^ Dude… Plan II. LAH means that you take honors classes with normal UT students in a bunch of areas. Plan II is like its own school within UT, with its own curriculum, classes, requirements, funding, etc. Obvious ;)

Haha, well I guess you just made that decision a lot easier for me!

Honestly, the thing that worries me about Plan II is that it is a major of its own…

^ But the majority of Plan II students double-major. It’s really easy, apparently.
I just can’t decide between Plan II/English and Plan II/Philosophy, lol. I’m such a humanities geek!

Me too!

I cannot stand math in any form, although I definitely respect its practicality.

I’m looking to double major in Plan II and Psychology with a whole lot of Spanish thrown in for flavor…

haha, sounds good! You can certainly find lots of Spanish flavor in Austin’s Tex-Mex scene. Guero’s is my personal favorite (even though i work at Chuy’s. Shh!!) :)

Funny story. I got rejected. And then I got a Yale likely letter.

Huh?

Who said Yale is more selective than UT Honors?

I guess Plan II~=Directed Studies at Yale?

At a lower list price at UT. But your actual cost at Yale may vary.

^ True dat. If I get in, Yale will probably be cheaper than UT because of FinAid.

And I agree about Plan II being Directed Studies…except that DS is only for one year and Plan II is a 4-year major.

That’s crazy, though, that you got flat-out rejected and then got a Yale likely…
but dude, I will gladly trade you ;)

We can’t wait for collegetrade.com to be fully operational!

Austin’s Tex-Mex scene is nowhere near campus, sadly. You’ve got to drive to eat anywhere.

But my vote goes to Juan in a Million for sure!

^ Dude, Guero’s is pretty close. Probably not walking distance, granted, but close.
