Plane ticket and getting to Dartmouth

I have a few questions, does Dartmouth financial aid cover plane tickets? If so how often? I have an EFC of 0. Also is there public transit from airport to Dartmouth? If so I would appreciate that information. Thank you!

I can’t answer the financial aid question, but the Dartmouth Coach runs from Boston Logan airport and drops off right at the Hanover Inn on campus. There are a couple of shuttle services from Manchester, NH to Hanover as well.

Call the admissions office to arrange travel. Air or bus will depend on how far you are from Hanover.

I expect they will arrange the Dartmouth Coach as well if you fly into Boston (or the upper valley shuttle from Manchester), but the website for the former is here: [Dartmouth Coach: Connecting Upper Valley to Boston & Logan Airport](Upper Valley < > Boston/Logan Airport | Dartmouth Coach)

Financial aid may cover your tickets to attend Dimensions.
However, it will not cover your trips to hanover and back home for breaks.

You are responsible for your transportation costs; this is why you have a student contribution from summer earnings (and work study) as most of this money along with $ from work study will be used to pay your misc. expenses including travel. If you do not meet your student contribution, Dartmouth will not increase your need based aid (however, if you have not exhausted your federal loans, you can borrow-leaving you debt upon graduating).

I know I can use scholarship money for books. Can I use outside scholarships for plane ticket costs?

Oops. Thanks, Sybbie. I interpreted this as a Dimensions question in light of the earlier one, but you are obviously correct that this was a different and broader question.

OP, whether you can use an outside scholarship for travel depends on the terms of the grant. If it says it’s for tuition, then no. If it is phrased more generally in terms of the costs of attending college, then probably yes – but there might be tax ramifications. When in doubt, contact the grantor and ask.

You probably will not be able to use the outside scholarship for your plane ticket. You will have to report the outside scholarship to the school.

Thanks for the feed back everyone! Looks like I will be getting a summer job XD
