Since my parents refuse to go, I will be taking the train but i need some help :3

Now if I take a train from Long Island to Penn Station. Is there a train from Penn/Grand Central to take me to Philly? If so, how far from campus is it?

Thanks so much!

you can take amtrak from penn station to 30th street station here in philly; from there, you can take a cab or hop the trolley to 37th

The distance is walkable, right?
It's around a mile..?
I'm so excited to come visit penn again :D
Assuming the preview 09 days are those that were posted.

It's definitely walkable. You should be on campus in 10 minutes or so walking.

From Penn Station you can always book a variety of buses to 30th Street Station that are quite a bit cheaper than Amtrak.

Look up Bolt Bus. It leaves from right outside Penn Station at 34th and 8th Avenue. Tickets range from $1 up to about $10 for a 2 hour trip. Plus you get wi-fi and power outlets on the bus.

THANK YOU SO MUCH phat.
That would save me a lot of money :)
I'll probably be taking that :D
Is the sign easy to find from penn station?
(I'm terrible with directions haha)

Another option--though I'm not sure how it compares in cost or time to the Bolt Bus--is to take a New Jersey Transit commuter train from Penn Station to Trenton, NJ, and then to transfer there to the SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority) R7 commuter train to 30th Street Station. The whole trip takes about 3 hours, and is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than Amtrak. The R7 schedule, including the connecting NJ Transit trains to and from Penn Station, is available here:

can i ask when the preview days are?

I take the route that 45 Percenter described. NY Penn Station to 30th Street Station is about $40 round-trip and then you can walk to campus in about 10-15 minutes or take a trolley for a couple bucks.

And btw you take the Northeast Corridor Line to get from NY Penn Station to Trenton.

Has anyone had any experience with the bus? That actually sounds like a pretty good price (and I don't have to worry about connecting trains :D)

I've taken the Megabus from Penn Station to the 30th St. Station. It picks up right outside Penn Station (31st and 8th) and it's relatively inexpensive.

spikypufferfish, April 9, 10, 13, 16, 17 & 20 are the days.

one of the penn preview days is on my birthday!

crystalpinapple, how did you find that out? and do you have to register or do you just show up?

a rsvp letter or email will come once the regular decisions are out

Just making sure... we do get to see the housing during these penn preview days, right? >.<

during previews you'll see probably quad (not necessarily a room), hill, and a highrise

are these preview days for admitted students?

what are they?
