I'm still a Sophomore, and it's almost time for the next semester which means planning for my Junior schedule. Here's what I have:

-Latin I
-Honors Pre-Calc
-AP World
-AP Biology
-Latin II
-AP Calculus AB
-AP Chemistry
-Honors English 11

or...

-Latin I
-Honors Pre-Calc
-Honors American Studies II (American Studies I is requirement in the 8th grade)
-AP Biology
-Latin II
-Honors English 11
-Advanced Biotechnology
-Honors Statistics

What do you think is best for Junior year?

I’m a sophomore as well, glad to see ya.

While both schedules are challenging, the first one is very rigorous, with 4 AP’s and 2 Honors. The second one has 4 Honors and 1 AP.

It all comes down to what you think you will be able to handle in relations to AP vs Honors. I have no doubt that you could thrive with the second schedule, just ask yourself if you would rather load up on honors or AP for your junior year and then make a decision on the first or second schedule.

Hope this somewhat helped!

Best of luck the rest of the way!

I second usasoccer; they’re pretty different because one is loaded with more APs. It’s hard to say without knowing more about your work ethic and your career plans, as well as your senior plans.

@thecollege1 I plan to become a Veterinary Pathologist or Veterinary Pharmacologist. Right now I have all A’s so far. I not sure what I’m planning do as a Senior.

@usasoccer Thanks :)

PreCalculus and Calculus? I don’t concur. Skip PreCalc (it’s useless). I’m warning you, you learn nothing crucial for Calculus in there. However, it depends on your school.

I agree with eveyone else. Both schedules “fit” your plans (AP Chem and Biotechnology).

Just pick the one you think is best.

@likesMath You have to take Pre-Calculus before AP Calculus I (AB). I decided that my schedule would look like this:

-Latin I
-Honors American Studies II
-AP Biology
-Honors Pre-Calculus
-Latin II
-AP Calculus AB
-AP Chemistry
-Honors English 11

Even though I really wanted to take Biotechnology
I’ll just take it Senior year. (The teacher who teaches it is really good I had her for 2 years now
lol)

AP Calculus AB isn’t Calculus I. It’s part of it. BC is the “equivalent” of Calculus I. If that’s the policy at your school, I guess you’ll have to take that crap.

Don’t rush in mathematics.

Great schedule. Take Biotechnology if you’re really wanting to though.

@likesMath Thanks. Also someone else mentioned in another thread I read said that it’s better to take Calculus in high school than in College. Biotechnology is just an elective I can take it year
I don’t really want to rush, I just don’t want to be left behind. Like stated in my other thread about math, I’m not very good at it, but I’m willing to try. I have a lot to think about lol. Thanks again.

Having taken calculus 1 at the community college (admittedly probably not as rigorous as a university course), I looked at the ab exam and the bc exam in a practice book. Upon comparing the two exams, I saw that I could do all of calc ab but only the overlap section of calc bc. I like to think about calc bc being both calc 1 and calc 2, while ab is just calc 1.
