In this upcoming year, I plan to take 8 AP exams. However, 6/8 courses I would be doing through independent study, and I'm wondering if the work load would be a little too much. These courses I have picked to take are of my interest, and I do move at quite a fast pace, yet I'd still like to hear other people's opinion upon whether taking 8 AP exams is as insane as I think it is.....

What good does it do when hearing it from us? If you want to do it, do it.

Quick question: do I care?

Just do what you want to do. If you need feedback, talk to friends, teachers, and family. Not us.

If I were you, I would only take it if you enjoy those subjects

Taking those to look good on your transcript will do you no good as you go through an unreasonable about of stress all for the sake of getting into a good college.

I added on 1 extra AP (Chemistry) during my junior around this time last year. Everything about the class was great, but it has put me in a bind in terms of getting required credits to graduate (gosh darn ARTS).

But at the same time, I was prepared to take SAT Subject test in Chemistry and did well!

There are tradeoffs, it’s best if you take some time to think before doing this.

It’s your choice, but answer one question: Why?

We don’t know how much you can handle, if you think you can do it, then go ahead, because if you succeed, its going to be awesome. In my school ( private/very hard ) we HAVE to take 14 subjects total, it’s kind of insane, but 90% of the students managed it. Overall, it’s doable, now it’s up to you.

I think taking 4+ APs is insane after realizing how brain-killing it is just to take 2.

Good luck. Enjoy the stress filled weeks of torture.
