Planning to visit and interview

After an info session at my school, I have decided that Haverford might be my ED school. Thus, I have scheduled a visit and interview the second weekend of November, and I was wondering if anyone could provide me with tips for the interview or suggestions on where to visit/dine/etc. Thanks! :)

Have you tried searching the HC CC site for "interviews"?
I'm sure some former applicants posted their experiences in the past.

College interviews are pretty generic and benign compared to other types of interviews (for consulting jobs, med schools...). Haverford's is especially friendly and personal because it's the nature of the place.

Here are some simple recommendations to consider if you want to rock it...

1) Anything you put on your application/resume is fair game... know yourself
2) Have good reasons why you want to go to that school/ get that job, ect...
2a) Know what distinguishes that school/job/ect from others.

and most importantly,

3) Before you ask a question, make sure that it can't be answered from 5 minutes of research on the internet or looking through the institutions info packet... as if it can, it suggests that you really don't care enough about the place to spend 5 minutes looking.

Your other questions depend on whether you're from the area or if your parents will be in tow.

good luck!

My son interviewed at Haverford a couple weeks ago. He met with a senior student in the Admissions lobby. It was very informal and relaxed. I've been told the interview is just to make sure you're generally compatible with the student body. Its possible that since you're interviewing later that you'll meet with an admissions counselor. I found (as just an observer) the student body to be extremely friendly and helpful to guests. The campus is beautiful and alot going on in the general community. For a quick breakfast or anytime I'd recommend Minelli's Diner-which is a couple of blocks south of the school. I'm a philly native but no longer live in the state. I took my family to South St/Pat's and Geno's and Italian Market area in South Philly. It was a very diffefent experience for them as my kids grew up in the south. I wish you good luck on your college search.
