"Dreamcast and Saturn were both technically inferior to the PS2, and PS One"
Yeah, but both were out way before the PS2. I'm not talking about comparing hardware specs objectively; I'm talking a subjective analysis versus competing top-tier brands at the time of first market penetration.

and for that matter, the new generation of consoles are targetted at young adults, not at children anymore. if you ask me, the older you get, the more you actually care whats "under the hood". technical specs do matter. if they did not, we would still be running vga graphics.

mm. Oregon Trail.

I just beat that a month ago.

You don't think that the Revolution will appeal to the older audience of gamers in delivering backwards compatibility to the NES?
I know a good number of gamers who are highly interested in this feature.

Besides, we're not each other's enemy here. Let's just beat up on Infinium.

Technical specs do not matter so much. They are not an end-all. PlayStation won last generation being inferior to the Nintendo 64; PlayStation 2 repeated and is inferior to both Xbox and Gamecube. But they DO matter. That's WHY people bought an Xbox (PS2 will never run Halo 2 smoothly).

Saturn did poorly because the Sega brand name was diluted after Sega CD/32X (so definitely not top-tier, Sony and Nintendo were at their prime!). It was also released 5 months ahead of schedule and expensive ($399 to Sony's $299). Dreamcast was doing well, but Sega was not. They could not afford to go against Nintendo, Microsoft AND Sony. In any case, "way before" is only 5 months for Saturn, and a year for Dreamcast.

Lets all just eat some cheese!
