I am going to be a freshman at Babson College in August. I played Halo 2 with a couple of my friends and it was a lot of fun. I think I'm going to buy an Xbox but I am wondering if game systems in college? I don't have a problem with self control... but does it become too much of a distration?

"I don't have a problem with self control"

Then why worry?

I've a GameCube, GBA and Nintendo DS. I've survived. If you want an Xbox, go for it. But don't spend your entire life playing. I know someone who failed an exam before because he was up until 4am playing Pro Evolution Soccer the night before...

if you dont work, even if you studied for hours and hours. There will always be so much time left.

if i were u, i'd rather be a bit more patient and wait till this december when Xbox 360 comes out. You'll be able to play not only Halo2 but also Halo 3 and a bunch of other "cooler" games that current Xbox cannot handle. OR wait till the spring of 2006 and buy PS3.

or wait and get Nintendo revolution, which will put the other to shame

Yeah wait for the Xbox 360 - that thing is going to blow everything else out of the water.

THREE (I repeat, 3) 3.2 Ghz processors, huge upgradable hard drive, all wireless controllers, all Hi-Definition games with 5.1 surround sound... ::drools::

or you can just get Revolution and have about 1.5 million more games available.

truly can you beat games like Mario. You cant beat zelda, there has and never will be another franchise which is better,

Xbox and Ps3 are all Gimiks,

Well, it depends on ppl... I'm a little bit disappointed by Nintendo Game Cube. I don't think it can beat the variety of third party games of Xbox and PS. Well if you're a zelda fan or if you like old Nintendo games (cuz u can download all the games from the past on Revolution), you'll definitely like Revolution, but Sony and Xbox have been releasing some impressive titles and they will for PS3 and Xbox 360. So we cannot predict which one will be the final winner. we'll just have to wait till all three come out and see how things go.

The thing about the Xbox360 (btw, worst. console. name. ever.) is that the backwards compatibility looks to be limited. It's due to the different hardware, and in particular the fact that Xbox360 is using a PowerPC CPU as opposed to the Intel CPU in the Xbox. So if you really want an Xbox for the games that are out now, grab a cheap one. You should be able to get a lot of the games cheap both now and around the Xbox360 launch if you buy used.

PS3 will pwn.

That is all.

If you like your consoles to look like a George Foreman grill.

"but does it become too much of a distration?"

Evidently, you need a distraction in college to keep yourself from getting burned out...at Prefrosh Weekend at Caltech, a couple students there demolished me in SSBM (which, by the way, is probably the only reason to get GameCube, besides loyalty to Nintendo)...

I'm hoping that Nintendo has more success with Revolution than it did with GameCube...I really don't want to see Nintendo go under :(

With a bit of luck SSB3 will be a launch title for Revolution, with full online capabilities. SSB and SSBM pwned.

Ooh, ooh! MUST GET NINTENDO REVOLUTION! runs off and demands reservation

SSB3 had better have an event match editor...but besides that, it seems pretty tough to improve on SSBM (besides the idiotic AI)

cough MGS4 cough

The MGS series went downhill after the first one. Kojima puts way too much dialogue into a game that should be all about the action.

The most important thing I have learned is to have it be a reward or a break from something. If you do well on an exam or you are burnt out from studying, I found it great to relax with a few friends. I sort of look back on how much I play it and see if I am spending too much time on it than other things like studying.

There are some great new systems coming out so I would hold off on buying it until they come out. After all, you might be able to get an Xbox for even cheaper plus a new system. Right? ;)
