Please answer this question if you got below 1600 before on the SAT?

How did you bump that score?

What books helped you the most, and what do you recommend to other people who are having hard time raising their score from 1300, 1400, 1500 range to 1700 1800 1900 range?

Thanks.
(Any other advice would be great)

no one here got below a 1600 lol…

wow. thanks for the information - -

I got a 1550 way back in 7th grade.

How did I improve? It’s tough to point at one particular thing I did. Acquired wisdom at school, great English teachers, and dedication all paid off in the end.

If your scoring in the 1300-1500 range, you should get a comprehensive workbook such as Gruber’s or Barron’s.

I got a 1400 in eighth grade…
So I guess I read a whole prep book (suggest PR, good info, but terrible tests) and remember every crappy thing in there. Should increase about 300 ish points.

JohnLee; Ignore the unhelpful, somewhat arrogant responses, plenty of kids score below 1600 and then work toward scoring higher; you are not alone. If you can afford it, tutoring in a small group or one-on-one is great. We have Revolution Prep in our area, and they are great, but can be expensive. One of the “keys” for them is they have you take the test 5 times or more in the time you are working with them, which means you get comfortable with the test-taking, you apply the tips they given you regarding “how” to be a good test taker, and you see a TON of SAT questions, which is always good. If you cannot afford them, invest a SAT Prep book, maybe “Barons” or another, and start going through the sections, concentrating on the ones you did the “worst” on in your test and moving on from there, and take the tests in the back of the book. There are many “practice” tests in the back you can take, have someone time you, or set the timer yourself and practice testing. It’s almost more about “putting in the time” of practicing the SAT and the Q&A in the book as it is anything else. Good luck; you can do it. And NEVER let someone else make you feel like you aren’t worthy or are “less than”. :)
