Please be brutally honest about me getting into UT, want to go in for ece

You really need a better list. I don’t see you getting into any of those schools. With better test scores, maybe Bama.

Where in Washington are you from? Have you shown your guidance counselor that college list?

Cascadia community college, then transfer to UW Bothell might be a good safety school option. UWB has both CS and EE majors.

You can find the full list of in-state options at washingtoncouncil.org. Download the higher education book here:

well guys

I just clearly suck, that’s it. And now I should just give up about it. I’m not going to bama, I don’t think its good

sorry lad, But no way i’m going to bama, its not that great, and i know it.

i’m done

Your stats are well below the 25%ile at Bama. Get over yourself. I’m done. I now think this post is fake as no one can be this oblivious.

@sanimri7 It’s understandably disappointing to hear “no chance”. There is a college out there that would be perfect for you. However what many of the posters are saying is that your list doesn’t match with your stats. Now, you could either throwin the towel and dwell on the negative or you can begin researching which college is the best match for you. Take the advice given and make a choice. Wish you the best!

Why so touchy about Bama? You’re the one who put “UofA” on your college list above. It was a reasonable assumption. Did you mean Alaska, Arizona, or Arkansas perhaps?

University of arizona

Allright guys

I will check in with you guys later l, I will try to get the high test score like some where of a 32 or above. And I will do the same for the sat like 1400 it not, I’m done for austin. If made, then good. I will try to get my gpa of a 3.5 (3.6) max by this semester. And I will make a good resume and get a good letter of rec from professor and make an extremely broad resume. I will check in after December 15th

For now, yeah I will be honest I will get rejected. But i won’t give up, and I will try I now don’t care about ut as stuff is happening on the campus

Thankyou

Waiting until December 15th to add realistic schools to your list risks not having time to do well thought out applications.

Build a list of match and safety schools first, using the GPA and scores you have, not the record you wish you had. Show your list to your guidance counselor to make sure it’s realistic and to your parents to make sure they can afford it. If you get some great new scores in December, awesome. Apply to more reaches. If not, you can still go to college.

Ok I will definetly build some backups. I do have a couple schools WSU and SDSMT because my mom and Dad work at these schools. I would like to go down souh because of it’s warmer  got a little tired of the cold. But it’s ok, all I can do is try and apply. I will see my counselor on Monday to see if we can do anything.

I was curious did you got to UT as well #aroundhere

@sanimri7 , keep in mind that once an applicant is admitted, they then have to perform reasonably well in order to stay enrolled and graduate. Perhaps addressing the underlying reasons that you have had academic or testing challenges during 2 years of community college, where you can get a lot of support if you seek it out, can put you in a much better position to succeed wherever you are admitted. That way, you will be building toward a better future instead of setting yourself up for a very tough road.

Yeah That’s true

I’ll be honest I did have a very though road when I started taking college classes, so that is why my principle took me out of those classes so I can adjust. He even said “its ok to take a step back to adjust yourself and get you going”. I was really upset when I got taken out of these classes. But then I said to my self, fix your holes and then move one. I’m hoping to take Calculus 1 and General Chemistry one at my college so then that way I am ready to roll. Currently I’m in bridge to college for English which will adjust me to College English I hope. I’m currently in Pre-Calculus but its seems so easy. So what i’m going to do is take it for the time being and then move one soon. I’m also in psychology, but sadly there going to make it a pass or fail course. You were not the only one that said community college, even some of my teachers said that to. I know i’m ready for university, but for some reason i’m having a hard time proving it.

Absolutely zero chance of getting into UT right now. You need to reevaluate the rest of your college list right now as it doesn’t look very realistic. why even apply to MIT? just a waste of an application fee.

Texas public universities generally do not consider GPA for admission; they use class rank instead.

But since the OP is not an automatic admission applicants, that leaves him/her competing for the quarter of the class for non-automatic admission, which includes all out-of-state applicants and Texas applicants outside the top 7% of their high school classes. While UT Austin has an overall 40% admission rate, that is misleading. The admission rate is 100% for automatic admission applicants, but probably only around 15% for non-automatic admission applicants.

The OP’s low ACT does not help, and a 3.3 GPA is probably nowhere close the the top single-digit percent rank that would be anywhere near competitive for admission.

“For some reason” isn’t enough of an answer at this point. You need to figure out what’s keeping you from success.

You could be sabotaging yourself through anything from having an attitude to using drugs.

You could have a medical issue like depression or an undiagnosed learning disability. Learning disabilities are often diagnosed late if you are minority (because teachers don’t expect enough of you) or gifted (because the part of your brain that’s smart compensates for the LD until middle or high school), or simply because your school district doesn’t screen widely for issues like dyslexia due to budget issues.

Maybe you need an educational psychologist to explore your strengths and weaknesses and help you build study skills.

You obviously have determination and ambition, but maybe instead of turning that drive towards self studying APs, you should turn it inward and figure yourself out for a bit.

Also, do not consider community college to be a death sentence. I’ve been amazed at what my kids and my friends’ kids were able to access at community college. If you want to move out of the house for college, there are even community colleges with dorms.

I really have not seen anyone go from community college to a big school, sounds weird. But maybe I can transfer in from UT Arlington if that works
