I guess I'll try it. I mean, it costs no extra, and I do write extremely well. Eh, why not?

Anyone else?

The last bump!

I'm sorry...I said that I wouldn't bump this anymore, but I want just one more opinion...

American Univ--is affiliated with United Methodist Church and located in DC, which has one of the highest crime rates.

Brandeis--this is way up in MA...a bit far from PA (shall we say "physical reach")...and academically this school is a reach for you...don't bother applying here

Clark University--physical reach but academic match.

George Washington--why bother applying here??? too expensive and located in high crime area...the nice thing is that tution is fixed for five years for accepted students but it's still way too high.

Miami of Ohio--if you're interested in going to Ohio, then check out Ohio State Honors program. The alumni connections of Ohio State are much more powerful.

Penn State (University Park)--perfect match!!! in-state school, affordable price, academic match, strong alumni connections, possible honors acceptance, and they beat Ohio State at football last season ;-)

Rutgers (New Brunswick)--out of state match

SUNY-Binghamton--only 12k out of state tution, good out of state match (better than Rutgers)..but only 9% of students there are out of state.

Syracuse--out of state match but tution is nearly triple of SUNY Binghamton...but 60% of students there are out of state

Yea, but American is also 1/3 Jewish.

Crime rate doesnt matter.

Whoever said Schreyer is off a bit. No offense to my bud HW, but everyone I know who got into Schreyer also got into Yale, Penn, and Harvard.

JMU doesnt have nearly enough jews for what he wants.

Dasani is wrong about Brandeis. He isnt THAT far off.

I would say Brandeis is a pretty substantial reach with so many Bs. Plus it's pretty radically left-leaning which he said he didn't want anyway.

Let me answer your three questions on page 1 of this thread.

1--you originally listed the GPAs as 3.2 U/W and 4.2 W--but this is only possible if every class you took was an honors/AP/IB class--and as I pointed out--you took 14 of 16 honors courses--meaning the weighted GPA has to be less than 4.2. (Note: I recomputed and it should be 4.075, not 4.06--but this is pretty close and doesn't change my chances estimates).

2-If Penn State and Pittsburgh are using weighted numbers, then you would be easy matches at these schools (I think I ranked you match at Pittsburgh and match to slight reach at Penn State anyway--so just change the Penn State chances to match--maybe even safe match)

3-American University is tougher than Clark to get into--I think I said match at Clark when I meant to say safety (I think this is the problem with trying to post chances at 12 colleges or more at a time, you make mistakes in the posting--even when one computes the chances correctly).

Last comment--a lot of good info on here from others--which I think will be helpful to you in deciding on your final application list. I particularly agree with the poster who suggested Penn State from a cost perspective. Normally, the in-state flagship university is always one of the best choices for someone who is concerned about quality and cost in tandem;--and in your case, this would be Penn State.

Good luck and best of success to you.

Every academic class I've taken has been honors and AP.
