Please chance a junior for Georgetown Univ.

I am currently a junior in high school. I know I want to go into business. Georgetown Univ. is one of my 1st choice to apply. Here is my stat:

-I currently have a 4.18 weighted GPA (my school does not give unweighted GPA. I am guessing ~ 3.7, As & Bs)
-I am ranked top 10.7% of my class (~1400 students) in a very competitive public high school.
-I have taken almost all honors classes, 3 APs in sophomore year, 6 APs in junior and more APs in senior year.
-I have gotten a 33 on my ACT and will be taking it again.
-On SAT I got 1420 for M+C (2030 overall, will not submit). I have not taken any SAT II test yet.

ECs: I am in National Honors Society (3 years), a Dance Club member (2 years), 3 years Art class including Art 3D AP (I will make a portfolio for my 3D art work this year). I’ve played club soccer for 7 years with year-around intensive training, games and tournaments (my team is D1 team in the most competitive league of the area and is currently North State Rank #4, Region Rank #21, and National Rank #93). I have some leadership roles for few local youth programs and had enrich community service volunteer experience, etc.

I am an Asian male. I’d like to know if I have the best chance at Georgetown Univ. or if it’s a reach/match college for me. Please help to provide your advices.

Thank you for your time and please comment!

I would say match or low reach. Having said that, it is a very competitive school and is by no means easy to get into for any student. I would strongly recommend figuring out what makes YOU unique and then marketing the hell out of that to GU.

Georgetown’s low acceptance rate makes it a reach for everyone.

@cheesecake51 and @Youdon’tsay : Thanks for your reply and comments.

It does encourage me to apply Georgetown if it’s a match or low reach for me.

Yes, I need to work on my essay to make myself unique. I don’t have any academy awards such as math/science competitions or debate competitions. I only have some solid ECs as mentioned in my stat.

Any more advices are appreciated.

Hey elcollege, I’m a rising junior at Georgetown now. You don’t need some flashy awards to get in. When you’re trying to stand out on an essay, being unique can mean a wide range of things. You don’t have to showcase some major event like you winning American Idol, it can be incredibly simple as long as it stands out. There’s nothing more boring for admissions than reading about another kid who did some voluntourism. Ask your friends and family what makes you, you, and then roll from there!
