Please Chance me as a Transfer Student from a mid-tier UC?

Hi everyone! Just completed my first year at UC Santa Barbara. I'm majoring in Computer Engineering. I've always wanted to go to USC and a few of my friends got in after just 1 yr of college. I didn't apply, but I'm considering applying in the fall for admission for fall of '16. Do you guys think I have a chance? I'd be applying to Computer Engineering or Computer Science or something of that sort. I didn't plan on transferring so my GPA isn't that great, but I have good ECs and solid essays.

Because I'm an Engineering major at UCSB, I had a pretty challenging schedule.

Fall Quarter: Calc 1, Chem 1A, Lab, Computer Science (C Programming), and Writing for Engineers. [17 units]
GPA: 3.03

Winter Quarter: Calc 2, Engineering Physics 1, Technical Research Writing for Engineers, Fundamentals of Logic Circuit Design. [17 units]
GPA: 3.33

Spring Quarter: Linear Alg, Engineering Physics 2 (hardest course I've ever taken due to the Prof), C++ Data Structures, and Anthropology (My first GE!) [17 units]
GPA: 3.13

Current Overall GPA: 3.17

I think I can do really well in the fall (does USC look at winter quarter grades as well?). I think I can get my overall to about a 3.3 if I push for it.

Other Info:
33 ACT, 790 Math 2. Exorbitant passion for computers and technology in general. Taught Java/C++ at Stanford University to high school students. Currently interning at a Tech Startup in SF where I use Java and Google Web Toolkit (GWT) to develop AJAX web-based applications.

I know this was a lengthy post, but I'd love to go to USC and I was really curious as to whether you guys think I have a chance. Your help is seriously appreciated!

Everyone has a chance, although it’ll be a reach for you. Your GPA is definitely on the lower side for transfers, even with those courses. I’ve heard conflicting average GPA’s for the Viterbi school, but you should assume it’s somewhere between 3.4 and 3.7 with that course load. Viterbi doesn’t really care much for GE completion, which is an exception from most other schools. There’s a “transfer to Viterbi” 1hr video on Youtube for general information you should definitely check out.

Also, I should mention nobody knows whether they recalculate GPA based on which school you come from, although some people think they do.

Another note, you need a specific reason why you want to transfer. What about UCSB makes you want to transfer that USC has?

Good luck! Other than your GPA, your EC is spectacular.
