French 3 Honors: 96/100
US History: 94/100

Junior year- Current year, so final grades are estimated. I was able to take AP physics and do so well in it because I taught myself college level physics and took a test to get in without doing Honors physics.

AP Statistics: 96/1005/5 on AP exam
Pre-calc. Honors: 97/100
Chemistry Honors: 94/100 (Hardest Class in school! I have been told it is harder than AP Chem.)

W 750
2310

SAT II

Math level 2: 790
Physics: 800
Chemistry: 780

Extracurriculars-

I am the co-founder of a programming/web design club. I founded this in Freshman year. I am currently the president. It essentially is meant for people who are interested in programming to learn and develop their computer knowledge.

I am the vice president of the school's robotics team, and we participate in a statewide tournament. I have been participating since Freshman year

I am an active member of the Science team, and I might have a leadership position by next year. I have been participating since I was a Sophomore.

I played JV soccer for the past two years, next year I will play varsity.

I did Model UN when I was a freshman, however I was not crazy for it and did not continue.

I work at a local super market, and began working there as a freshman. I work around 9 hours per week.

Last summer, I interned as a programmer at the corporation my father works for.

This summer, I am attending a prestigious science summer program.

My mother taught my advanced level spanish, as she is a spanish teacher. Also I taught myself advanced level German using resources from my local library. I am planning on teaching myself Mandarin during my freetime using online resources.

Freshman year I taught myself programming in C, Python, and Java. I was able to publish a simple app Sophomore year.

Each summer, I volunteer around 400 hours doing administrative work on the school's computer systems.

Sophomore year I tutored middle schoolers once a week.

So these colleges:
Harvard (EA)
Stanford
Duke
NYU
UCLA
UC Berkeley
UNC
Princeton
CMU
Possibly Oxford, not sure because it is out of US

Thank you, I will chance back!

Most of your ECs are rather cookie cutter but they are focused. Could you elucidate on presitigous science program? if its something like RSI it changes everything

Thanks for your response Rurouni! It is a program held at a prestigious university. It is extremely competitive and only a select group of students get to attend it.

If Oxford, your offer would have to be conditional - ie, dependent on your results from your APs senior year, as you need another 2-3 APs with a score of 5. If you are interested, though, go find sample tests for the Physics Aptitude Test (PAT) online- it is make-or-break for physics at Oxford.

Forgot to mention that It has a focus on science and engineering. Yes it is very similar to RSI.

I will definitely do my research the PAT for Oxford collegemom. Thank you!

Bump

Bump

If you chance I will chance back!

The hispanic part may help, But At top colleges freshman year is going to bite you.

I know it will really hurt my chances. I hope to write about overcoming ADHD in freshman year in an essay to explain why I did poorly and how I overcame an obstacle.

Thank you for your response!

First of all, thanks for chancing me. Here goes:
Harvard (EA): Reach, regardless, since you did not cure cancer :p.
Stanford: Reach, see above
Duke: Mid-Match
NYU: Match
UCLA: Match
UC Berkeley: Match
UNC: Match
Princeton: Reach (see Harvard/Stanford)
CMU: Match

I can easily see you being accepted into NYU, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UNC, and CMU, and you have a decent shot at the rest. Good Luck!
I don’t know about the other schools, but CMU doesn’t look at freshman year grades, even though yours are not bad at all.

“Reach, regardless, since you did not cure cancer”

LOL :))

Thanks for the chance!

I can’t see you having a problem getting into Chapel Hill or NYU. The rest are hit or miss. I know several people in who got accepted to Ivies and not UCLA. Your stats are good. Your freshman year really isn’t too bad because even if you copped out of more difficult classes, you kept your grades up. Look into each school and see which ones you could see yourself at and apply to them. Or just apply to all of them :stuck_out_tongue: There’s no telling with admissions boards at big schools like that.

Thanks empress!

Chance back at…
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1643813-duke-ed-chances.html#latest</a></p>

Okay now to answer…

Harvard EA - express you’re a minority and you have a very high chance.

Stanford - yes. You have a good shot
Duke - you’ll get in
Next 4 are basically guaranteed
NYU
UCLA
UC Berkeley
UNC

Princeton - again if you express you are a minority you have a great shot
CMU - I would say you’re in.

As far as oxford goes, why apply there if you get in Harvard or Princeton?

And finally…

I would say that you need to show off what you do outside of the classroom EC’s and such. Your academics and SATs show you are intellectually capable. But you have to show the other aspect too, your involved-ness** (if that were a word…) also make sure you are likable in your essays rather than pretentious or a know it all!

REMEMBER TO CHANCE BACK!!!
Link up ^^^^ there!

If you are out of state and not a recruited athlete, UNC is definitely not guaranteed.

@collegemom3717 is right. I assumed in state. Sorry!

Good shape for all the schools in your list including Harvard, Standford, etc.; URM + Solid Academics + Solid ECs w/ demonstrated leadership. I don’t think your ECs are cookie cutter as was suggested - there’s a clear focus/passion in programming and it seems like you’ve pursued it to a reasonable extent.

You definitely have a good shot at HPS, and you should be good for the others
CHANCE BACK
