<p>Please chance me for Amherst/Williams/ Lawrence/Carleton. I'm a rising senior.
GPA: 4.0 (uw)- tied for valedictorian (class of 600)
Honors Courses: 10 Honors and 6 AP, plus 1AP-level college class (Calc 3) by grad
ACT- 34, 34 (superscore 35)
SAT- 2230 (retaking in Oct.)
SAT II's: Math 2- 800; US Hist- 760
AP scores: Calc BC- 5; World-4; US and Lang- both 3's (ugh)
EC's: Band, marching band, Percussion Orchestra, show choir, NHS, Natl Spanish Honor
Society, Break Dance Club, School's Volunteering Club- volunteer weekly w/
underpriveleged children; Calculus Club; Volunteer playing in piano recitals for
the elderly at an adult day center; church youth group
Honors: Voice of Democracy (VFW national essay/speech contest) - 1st place, post level
and $500 scholarship (grades 9 and 11)
All-State Band - 1st chair percussion in grades 9,10, 11.
Shelter Insurance Scholarship ($1500) to top two 9th gr students
Federation State Piano Competition- won 2nd in state and won a scholarship
to Inspiration Point Fine Arts Camp
Missouri Music Teachers Association- won 3rd in state for 4 yrs (gr 4,5,6,9)
"We The People" team won at state competition (9).</p>

<p>Do I have a chance? I'm hoping to major in chem and music and go on into medicine. Thanks!</p>

<p>Thanks a lot. I do agree that the others are reaches; I just wonder how much of a “reach”? My ACT is at the 75% of those admitted to Amherst (25-75% is 30-34 w/ mean of 32) and a bit above the 75% for Williams and Carleton (25-75% is 29-33 for them). My ACT of 34 is a little higher than my SAT of 2230 according to those “comparison” charts. Do you think I should give both or just the ACT?</p>

<p>They are a normal reach fOr anyone. A person can’t predict an admission to these schools. You usually want to be 2100+, 32+ for the top schools, but that’s not enough. Just make a good app and pray that’s all you can do.</p>

<p>Lylukas97, thanks a lot for your encouragement! I did raise my SAT this fall , so maybe that will help too, but I know that there are so many good applicants. Well, I have submitted the app. so I’m just waiting now! Good luck to you!</p>
