After visiting Bowdoin and a lot of other liberal arts colleges throughout New England, Bowdoin is definitely my top choice. As soon as I was on campus I felt like I belonged, and they also have an amazing program in my prospective major, government. I really want to apply early decision there, and I was wondering what my chances of being admitted are. I'm a rising senior at a public high school.

Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.91
Unweighted Class Rank: #1
Weighted Class Rank: #24 (class of over 700)

(I had some unweighted classes like gym--other people took more weighted classes and thus have a higher weighted rank)

ACT Scores:
Composite: 31

English: 35
Math: 28
Reading: 32
Science: 30
Optional Writing: 8

I have taken all honors courses since freshman year, with the exception of gym, choir, drama, and freshman Spanish.
I have completed AP US History, AP US Gov, AP Comparative Gov, and AP Lang.

Senior year I'm taking AP Spanish, AP Micro Econ, AP Macro Econ, AP Calc, AP Enviro (with honors classes in other areas)

Extra Curriculars:
Choir since freshman year (choir at my school is VERY competitive if that matters; it is very difficult to get into upper level choir)
City-Wide choir since sophomore year (also difficult to get into)
Voice lessons grades 8-10. Too busy this year, but I plan to start again senior year.
Volunteering teaching ESL to refugees from Southeast Asia since second semester of freshman year (with a semester hiatus at one point due to lack of time)
Second Place in State Debate Tournament this year
Science program at a prestigious liberal arts school the summer after sophomore year
Member of math club since it was created this year
Ultimate Frisbee player (I absolutely adore it)

I plan to write very strong essays and will get great teacher recs. I also met my region rep when she came to my school in the fall and I reintroduced myself when I visited. She remembered me from the fall, which I think is a good sign, although it certainly does not mean I will be admitted. I'm worried my extracurriculars aren't strong enough, although I can speak about them with great passion. If I write really stellar essays, can this help make up for fewer extracurriculars?

Thank you so much!
