PLEASE Chance me for some LACs

Just got rejected from Williams and Colby and wait-listed at Bates. Moral is low. Ego is hurt. Emotional support is needed. I swore i would not post on this site for the sake of my mental stability, but I am a broken human being right now. Sooooo comfort me with your brutal honesty.
White female from new england
Gpa: 3.98- all As and one A-
APs: us history, bio, chem, art hist, lit, lang, calc bc
Put my 5 in us history and 5 in lang on application
Class rank: 4/155
SAT: 1420
ECs: debate, parli, mock trial for all 4 years, some awards won, National Forensic League degree of excellence, the way my school runs these activities does not make leadership positions available
Nhs and french Nhs (jr and senior yr)
Ccd teaching for 2 hours a week at my church (soph-senior)
Mission trips in fresh, soph, jr years
Work at country club 15 hrs a week 22 weeks out of the year
Essay: very decent, reviewed my multiple Ivy grads (i hear this site likes prestige)
Interviewed for bates, hamilton, and weslyan
Thought they all went well, I am not sure I shared a lot about myself, but I definetly charmed the alumni
Letters of rec: one from ap chem teacher, one from ap lang teachers- confident they spoke to my academic credibility, enthusiasm in classroom, and analytical mind.

At this point i just hope i get into college. But please be brutally honest, for it seems like none of my family/friends can do this.
Please give an explaination with your chances. Thanks to all :)))))
Boy this is quite a website! All « My d Â» and « my s Â» CLASSIC. Imagine if people spoke like that irl!

Also: the rest of my non-ap classes were honors or a couple level zero art classes

Hope you enjoyed my mis-spelling of « morale Â» Ok Time to atop commenting on my own post!!!

Ohh… wait…forgot one little detail: the LACs i am trying to get into are Weslyan, Conn, Amherst, Hamilton, and Middlebury. Dear god i am a mess

From a completely objective standpoint, you’ll have better chances at Conn and Hamilton. Still, don’t count yourself out of any of them yet; the three you got rejected/waitlisted to were among the more selective, and maybe one of the others I didn’t factor in above might find something special in you.

Surprised you only put your 5s on your application (though I’m no authority on that). SAT is ok, but the schools you applied to are supposed to care a bit more about you in a broader setting, so selection can be unpredictable when talking about it. ECs are cool, but man those mission trips (not sure if a good thing or not).

Just keep your head up; you seem like a great applicant on paper and I think Connecticut College would be a solid match for you (and Hamilton a low reach).

Hey, @youngdreamer12. I think you will get maybe two of these schools. You have everything in place for an acceptance at Conn, and you could still get maybe one or two of the others. Your GPA is excellent, and your standardized scores, to the extent they are a factor, would even place you at slightly above average at the highly selective Middlebury, for example. Regarding spelling, though, did you proofread the materials you sent to Wesleyan?

Thanks for the perspective and comfort @MON824 and @merc81. You caught me with the Wesleyan mispelling, but I can assure you I did not do that on my app.

i can’t speak for the others, but i definitely think you’ll get into conn.

That’s good regarding Wesleyan, @youngdreamer12! (Btw, I didn’t intend to “catch you,” but asked the question to see how tuned in you have been with the school.)

Let us know how this plays out for you, @youngdreamer12. Wishing you luck!

Thanks and will do! I’ll know in about a week!

Regarding post #4, Hamilton’s avg accepted SAT last year was a 1465, so it’s a true reach with a 1420;

Middle 50% testing ranges for accepted students:
New SAT: 1420-1510
Old SAT: 1430-1540
ACT Composite: 32-34

@Chembiodad Yup; my bad. I accidentally looked at their '21 class profile (1360-1480), not their admitted students profile. Still, I think it would be a slightly higher chance with that one than the others reaches.

@Mon824, Hamilton’s admitted student profile is higher than Bates, Colby, Middlebury and Wesleyan - only Amherst and Williams are materially higher, with Bowdoin and Tufts fairly similar amongst the NESCAC schools. And with a ED1 acceptance rate of only 29% vs 44% last year, it’s likely to be a very tough RD round at Hamilton.

@Chembiodad, I never posted before but wanted to reply to your numerous posts across threads how much higher Hamilton admitted stats are then other NESCAC. You have done this numerous times.

Hamilton Class of 2021 Admitted Students (Middle 50%):
New SAT: 1360-1480
Old SAT: 1410-1510
ACT Composite: 31-33

Colby Class of 2021 Admitted Students (Middle 50%):
New SAT scores 1330-1510
Old SAT scores 1350-1520
ACT scores 31-33

Seem more less the same to me…

@parent2123, first, you twisted my words as I said the same as some, and higher or lower than others. Colby hasn’t provided CDS data since 2015-2016 (so three years old), but if we compared that year the data is as follows:

Colby:
CR 630-720
Math 640-740
ACT 29-32

Hamilton:
CR 650-740
Math 650-730
ACT 31-33

That said, assuming the data shown on the Colby’s college profile page is just for admitted students, then yes they are similar. Unfortunately, many schools blend accepted and admitted student data on their college profile page - some call it out, others don’t.

For those NESCAC’s mentioned above that published 2017-2018 admitted student data;
Amherst - SAT CR 720-770, Math 710-790; ACT 32-34
Williams - SAT 710-780, Math 690-790; ACT 31-35
Hamilton - SAT CR 680-750, Math 680-760; ACT 31-33
Middlebury - SAT CR 660-750, Math 660-760; ACT 30-34
Wesleyan - SAT CR 660-740, Math 640-760; ACT 29-33
Bates - SAT CR 640-730, Math 630-720; ACT 29-32
Connecticut - SAT 640-710; Math 630-690; ACT 29-31

All great schools

Regarding comparative score data, these analyses, though no longer fully current (scores are for the old SAT), nonetheless offer a uniform methodology with respect to attending students:
