School: I am a junior at a private, all girls boarding and day school in North Carolina. My school is very old and has a reputation of being a prestigious private all girls school. It also used to be affiliated with UNC Chapel Hill when it was a junior women's college.

GPA: 3.1 weighted (will hopefully go up by the end of senior year)

SAT: 1740 on first try (retaking two more times)
Also taking SAT II's in English and History

Advanced classes: (AP and honors classes at my school are considerably more difficult than advanced classes at the average NC public school, which is why I have not taken as many as most) 6 honors classes, 3 APs

EC's and Leadership:
-Varisty Golf for 4 years, co-captain senior year
-Varsity Swimming for 1 year
-Varsity Track & Field for 3 years
-Co-editor of school newspaper
-Clubs: Global Unity, Young Democrats, Photography, Newspaper, Spanish
-I am going to run for Day Prefect in my school (a leadership position) so hopefully I will get that.

Volunteer Service:
-Volunteered twice a week at nursing home; summer 08
-Volunteered at psychiatric facility in MA for 2 weeks with volunteering program Landmark Volunteers. Also received v. good feedback from group leader and recommendation; summer 08
-Volunteered on an island as a volunteer ranger. Worked in the wilderness with other rangers, worked with children visiting the island, did other daily things; summer 09
-Volunteering at local hospital few days per week, and following speech pathologist there to learn more about her work; summer '10
-Volunteering at head and neck trauma center; summer '10
-In total: 100+ volunteer hours

Background:
-Half Indian, half Irish (Should I classify myself as "Asian" on my application, or elaborate?)
-Lived in NY for 14 years, now resident of NC
-I boarded at school for the first 2 years of highschool (this is one reason for my low GPA; I was away from my parents for the first time and homesickness etc. affected me a lot.)
-Now, I am a day student
-My older brother got into UNC out of state with a full scholarship
-I am interested in majoring in speech pathology/linguistics with a minor in Spanish or Psychology.

Schools I am interested in:
-UNC (reach)
-UNC Wilmington
-Appalachian State
-Elon
-East Carolina
-NC State
-Clemson

Please help chance me for these schools--if you can only chance me for one, make it UNC or UNCW. I am freaking out about college as I know my GPA isn't the greatest but I really want to attend one of these colleges listed.
Also, do colleges consider the academic rigor of a private, all girls highschool? I know that my school has a good reputation esp. in North Carolina, but I just hope they realize it's a more challenging environment than the average public NC school.
And should I consider sending in a video along with my application/essay telling each school why I really, really, really want to attend??

Thank you so much!
