Hi! So I was recently accepted unconditionally to the University. I think you have a fairly good chance of getting in. Your test scores look very good. The GPA is a little low, but if you’ve taken a competitive schedule, that might not matter as much. What subject(s) are you applying for? I can probably help out a little more if I knew that. Also, how’s your personal statement?

Thank you aliddel96 and Harrovian for your supportive words.
I am planning on studying English and Film Studies which can be studied together. I have only taken one English AP because that is all I could take my junior year. The summer after my sophomore year I took a creative writing course at the University of Maine and I studied literature last summer at Oxford; and I while I was there also took a film course. I have a strong English background being named Pre AP (honors) Student of the Year as a freshman (out of 648 students in my class and I am sure at least half were taking Pre AP as I attend an extremely competitive school). Pre AP classes are the highest level offered one’s freshman and sophomore year. Those classes are probably called honors classes at other schools
I also have a passion for film especially analyzing film. I have taken a film analysis course, it is not offered at the AP level but I made an ‘A’. I have been a member of my schools film club for four years and am president this year. I know UK schools are not interested in extracurriculars but since it is part of what I want to study I think I should mention this in my personal statement.
I am currently working on my personal statement and do recognize it’s importance. On a side note I was also nominated “Outstanding Girl” for the class of 2014. First a teacher nominates a student then that student is presented before a committee of teachers and from that committee 10 students are selected. The nominees are then voted on by the whole class. The nomination is based on academic achievement and effort/attitude. I didn’t win overall but was extremely honor to have been nominated by a teacher and then to have made it to the final 10. Do you think that is something that I should include in my personal statement? Thanks so much for any input! It is greatly appreciated.
Oh and I am going to visit St. Andrews during my Thanksgiving break. Not sure if that helps or not but I suppose it helps the school to know that I am serious. Just hope they’ll think I’m qualified!
