Guys, please chance me for UPenn (both ED and RD)!

• Organized a political debate among the candidates for mayor of my city (whose population is 1.5 million). In addition, I proposed the last question on the debate.
• President of the Cinema Club in my school for 3 years. In this club, I ran a project that introduced some of the classics and european films to kids and teenagers.
• Organized a protest against corruption in Brazil. It attracted thousands of people and reverberated in national newspapers.
• Organized SEVERAL contests in my school (soccer, truco, skateboarding and more).

• Organized a valentines day event to raise money for a charity.

Merits:

• Regional semifinalist in Geography Olympiads in 2010

THERE ARE NO AP CLASSES IN BRAZIL. However, students here have to take ALL CLASSES.

Recommenders: I have three VERY enthusiastic letters from people from my school and one from the former governor of my state.

My essays are about my perception of the riots that occurred in Brazil last June and about the 6 months that I spent on a Hospital bed due to an accident (and how it shaped me).

PS: bear in mind that the ONLY MERITS availiable in Brazil are SCIENCE OLYMPIADS.

PS2: I'm going to intern in an investment bank in November.

Looks fantastic! Stats look great, essay sounds amazing, and being international you have really high chances.
I take it you’re applying to Wharton for Econ?

Wow, thanks!

But Wharton does not provide a major in econ (the faculty of arts and sciences does).

Between all the leadership boosts (particularly the things that show you’re genuine and not just another try-hard hoping to pad his/her resume, like joining in on the mass Brazilian protest movement), the rather high SAT scores, and the nice international hook, it sounds to me like you’ve got quite a solid chance. Having no GPA listed does make evaluating your transcript/academics trickier, but if you’re telling the truth when you say that your high school is very good, then I’m sure they’ll be able to tell from your Top 5 class rank that you’re a quality student.

Best of luck!

bumpppppppppp

bumpppppppppppp

Wow. Very, very good chance for ED. Great chance for RD too, especially since you aren’t applying to Wharton. No one is totally safe for UPenn RD, but I would say that you have about as good a chance as one could have. The only thing I would say is that you should only send in the former governor rec if you have worked closely with that person. Prestige doesn’t carry much weight if the letter doesn’t show that they know you personally and on a professional or academic basis.

Chance my “Chance me please!” thread? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
