Please chance me for UPenn with low subject test scores!

So, I was thinking of applying to UPenn to challenge myself, but then I realized that they require subject tests and mine suck:

Math II: 650
Lit: 660

Which is unfortunate because I did pretty decently on my SATs: 720 CR, 750 Math, 780 Writing = 2250 (not super scored, did it in one try... does anyone know if that helps?)

Other stats:

GPA: around 3.8-3.9 unweighted and 4.15 weighted
Junior Year Schedule:
French 4 Honors: A-
AP Physics AB: B+
AP Calculus AB: A-
AP English Lang: A
Honors Social Studies:A
Living Independently (I signed up for Psych and Sociology but they didn't fit so I got stuck with this random FCS course): A
Choir: A

Senior Year Schedule:
AP Stat, AP Lit, AP Macro, AP Bio, Psychology, PEN (Gifted course), Choir
**My school has block scheduling, so I don't think we are able to take as many AP courses as other students? At least I can't with Choir in my schedule

AP tests:
AP Lang - 4
AP Calc AB - 4

EC's:
Middle school Select Choir (7th-9th)
Women's Ensemble (All of my high school years)
Chamber Choir (All of my high school years)
County Choir Festival (7th-10th)
District Choir Festival(11th)
Regional Choir Festival (11th)

District Art Festival (10th grade)

I also took dance lessons from 7th-10th grade, where I was part of the competition dance team
During the summers before 11th and 12th grade I was in two different community theater musicals
I have been an acolyte at my church since the sixth grade, plus I volunteer there for different community service events
I was a CIT at a summer camp in 9th grade
I have been working a part time job since the beginning of my junior year; quit my old one and got a new one this past August
In 9th grade I received an award for having one of the top 10 GPAs in my class

I also consider myself to be a strong writer, so I am hoping that my essays will carry me a little bit. I also think I am going to get pretty good teacher/counselor recommendations.

-Taking SAT in one sitting doesn’t help; Colleges can’t tell whether you use score choice or not
-Big difference between 3.8 and 3.9… 3.8 is twice the distance from a 4.0

Not many ECs that stand out. More academic ones could help… especially ones that would apply to your major.

I give you a 15% chance due to the SAT IIs, 25% if they were decent.

Gotcha… and I’m just estimating my unweighted GPA since my school doesn’t provide it for me, so I can’t give an accurate number.

Also, I know that I don’t have a lot of academic ECs, but major-wise I want to do Communications and Theatre, so I don’t think my ECs hurt me as much as they would if I wanted to do a Bio major or something.

I won’t be mortified or anything if I don’t get in. I guess I want to know if I am wasting $75 on the application fee if I have no shot of getting in…

ITs a reach. High reach. Better SATII and it would be a regular reach

Darn… Now I’m really regretting not studying hard for them…

Do you guys think I just shouldn’t apply at all?

bumpbumpbump

SAT IIs wont matter that much…It’s not that high but it won’t really harm you that much

How will they not hurt him when the middle 50% of SAT II scores applying to these s schools has a 25% well over 700?

You have a good shot! Do not retake SAT but do retake Sat subject test in Dec. take one again or both study more! You have some strong stars

He has to send all test scores either way.

A regular reach in this situation. If you score 700+ on each subject test then it can be a low reach.

I think that I’d be hard for you. Try retaking you SAT IIs. Your ECs aren’t very unique, but try to make them look better in the essays. Try to tell a touching or inspiring story. Ask yourself, “Why should they choose you?” Select an specific example (“I’m smart” is not ok) and write about it.
