I am a rising senior (IB student). I am interested in attending Emory or Vanderbilt or Northwestern University. Here are my stats
SAT: 2210 (plan to retake)
ACT: I will take
I plan to take SAT subject tests Math 2, Biology (M), Chemistry, and Physics
GPA: (UW) 3.38 (I know its low but I plan to raise it up) This is not my final gpa due to the fact that I am taking classes at my local college that will increase it. Also colleges will look at our first semester grades? Trying to get it up to a 3.7 if possible.
4.17 (W)
ECs include
Being a member of the county's public health committee and health IT committee
Pharmacy technician at the city's main hospital
Conducting research currently in developing a drug model for neuro diseases (Lou Ghergs) and also doing research in developing a therapy in the area of liver cancer. I plan to compete in the Siemens competition and publish the research with organizations such as the American physiological society and others. (Possibly trying to collaborate with researchers from universities and large hospitals). For example, I am trying to collaborate with one of Emory University's research centers and MA general hospital.
I got 1st place in the national Latin convention in the area for greek literature and derivatives and at the state and regional level.
member of latin NHS, science NHS, history NHS, NHS, and mu alpha theta. Founder of School's JETS (junior engineering technical society). Trying to possibly start with a doctor the state chapter of the APS (american physiological society).
Vice president of medical society and schools head of the medical simulation at the local hospital. I take part in public health projects and education sessions for low income neighborhoods. I have started a program for developing education and public health projects in my native country. I am African.
the universities I am looking at are emory, vanderbilt, college of william and mary, and northwestern. My safety is morehouse college and UF. In addition, I would like to ask if all else fails is it worth it to transfer? I have thought of attending morehouse and then transferring to emory, northwestern, or possibly johns hopkins. Please tell the truth about my chances. Thank you

UF isn’t a safety.

WOW! Your ECs seem stellar however any volunteer experience? A job? Your GPA also seems a little low for the schools your applying for. I also agree with the person above. UF shouldn’t be a safety. USF? or FSU would be better choices as safeties. Like I said you really stand out when it comes to ECs and if your collaborating with Emory then you could possibly have your foot in the door already. Your SATs should be good. Colleges however ive heard don’t look at semester grades unfortunately but I assume you can send them either way if you havent been accepted/denied yet! Good luck!

I think UF is borderline safety/high match. Again, your EC are fantastic and definitely give u an edge over other applicants. If you can raise your SAT (or get higher ACT) i think Vandy and NWU will be within reach as low reaches, right now i would put you ~50% at these schools…try to get to 75% SAT to give u the upper hand. Emory is a good fit for you at this point. Def. raise gpa as this is the most crucial factor.

chance back?!!!
