Rank: 61/255
course difficulty: 4 yrs. honors english (including 1 AP), several other APs (see below), 5 yrs of French at highest level available, all Social Studies highest level available, so is all science except freshmen year; I have NOT taken highest level math classes however

APs: Euro (5), US History (4), US Gov (4), Psychology (5), Enviro Science (4)
This year I am taking Micro and Macro Econ, English Lit, Biology, and French Lang

*****Essays: good, I'm a decent writer, got feedback, etc. "why whitman" one (optional) is unconventional.

****Reccomendatons:
Counselor rec: he doesn't know me that well . .. dunno
Teacher rec: my history teacher wrote it . . .prolly quite good but not amazing (will send bio teacher rec if waitlisted)
Other recs: debate coach wrote me one. Probably very strong, we have a good relationship and I work hard in debate

*****Interview/interest: I interviewed in October in Chicago (couldn't visit, live in Wisconsin). I have also contacted their debate coach a few times for info. . .I guess that shows interest.

*****ECs:

Debate (10-12) - do Varsity, have gotten many speaker awards, quarterfinalist at state, coach novices

Student Congress (10-12)- 7th in State, national qualifier, many in state awards, semifinalist at nationals

Model OAS (11-12) - model UN type thing; was head delegate this year

*****Volunteer work:
250+ hrs in kindergarten classrooms over 4 yrs, mostly at place for special needs kids (9-12)
~30 hrs. Obama campaign volunteer (12)
coach novices in debate (above)

*****Awards
AP scholar with distinction
school "merit" award thing (9-11) which is not too hard to get
scholarship to world affairs seminar in 10th grade (from Rotary Club)

****Other info: first generation college student, moved to US when I was 4, fluent in Russian.

*****I am applying ED II. BUT i forgot to get the form signed by counselor. . .hopefully they will accept this a few days late. The rest of the app is in and its paid for.

All of these things are in your favor: not from the NW or W, first generation college student, debate skills, and demonstrated interest-plus applying ED. They are the size of school that will read your essay on what affected your GPA and note that you've done well in AP classes, etc. If your interview went well and the debate prof is interested my guess is you will be viewed positively. Good luck!
