IS or OOS?

i am from oss

Which state?

Your SAT is low, and your w for 4 APs, honors and TAG is minimal, what is your scale, because a 3.65 uw and only a .13 seems odd. In our school district AP/IB gets a .5, honors gets a .25 bump on the w. Thus, you have 7 classes that should give you a much higher w even with that small discrepancy.

Do you have any hooks?

nj
idk most people in my school goes up about the same amount, i guess my hs does the scaling differently

what’s the major?

biology but i thought that the major doesnt affect admission discussions

I think your w will be re-weighted. It maybe your school system, but remember UMD has to deal with a lot of different weighting systems, so they re-weight to their scale. If their re-weight gets you over 4.0 than I think you have a shot. If it doesn’t than a 3.78 and a 1110 SAT from NJ, would be spring admit at best.

What is your pt scale difference for AP and honors? If honors gets no points, than it can help.

Have you looked at naviance for your school?

our school doesn’t use that
honors and ap gets more points but im not sure how they do it

Someone always said UMD don’t like too many students from NJ/NY. But I don’t understand why naviance show that all students from my son’s school(NYC) were accepted(stats a little above average). But only a few (15%) attend UMD.

UMD does take a lot of students from NY/NJ, but so many apply that the percentage accepted does take a bit of a hit. It’s just more competetitive to get in from those states.
