Being valedictorian and having some really great ECs are your strengths. HI resident doesn’t hurt either Your self-studied AP scores show that you’ve gone above and beyond in your schooling and can cut it against other high school students nation-wide. I’d say you have a great shot for both CC and UChicago :)

thank you for replying! Do you think my SAT scores are too low?

If you apply under ED, then I’m sure you have great chances. Valeditorian, and impressive ECs - these will boost your chances.

Valedictorian, super amazing sat score, plethora of ecs. ur already a competitive applicant. Good essays should push u thru

Your ECs are great, but I still think both schools are reaches due to their large applicant pools and low acceptance rates. Additionally, most colleges put more weight on your UW GPA.

Thanks guys! My UW GPA is somewhere around 3.95, but the school doesn’t really do UW. And I’ve chanced back!

You’re very well rounded! Definitely the type of kid both those schools look for. I agree with the 70% to each. Best of luck!

thank you, but 70% is really way too high, I would be really happy if I have a 40%. I really want to know if my SATs are too low.

Both schools are reaches just for the sake that they have such low acceptance rates. But you’re better off than the majority of applicants to the schools because you have good stats (your weighted GPA is just a tad low, but that’s probably because of a low amount of APs your school offers) and fantastic leadership in your ECs. Good luck!

My school gives a four to both A and A+, and I do have many A+. The only way to get beyond a four is taking AP courses, which I couldn’t take until my sophomore year (Most people at my school only take 2 or 3 APs before senior year). My school only offers like 8 APs, so I got no choice but self studied:)

eh I wouldn’t really base your acceptance rate off of the overall acceptance rate. you’re a very competitive applicant and like debator said, even though 70% is an exaggeration, I’d still say you have a good chance being admitted into UChicago and Columbia.

You had the ability to commit to an incredible amount of EC’s PLUS self-study for AP’s which your school offered you. I would think that school’s will be able to see that you are an intelligent and hard-working applicant.

Good luck on your admission!

I hope taking APs that aren’t offered at school looks good.

well, bump lol

you seem to give people realistic responses about college admission. do you mind if you can also chance me?

yeah I sent you a private message, and Bump!

For the majority of applicants to these highly selective schools, admission is mostly a crapshoot, depending on the needs and desires of each individual school. Your best chances will be if you try your hardest to distinguish yourself. You grades/test scores/EC’s seem pretty consistent with the average admittee, but there are a ton of people with similar stats. Two things caught my eye that distinguish you: Hawaii, and your rock band. Those will be your leverage. I would say you have around a 40% chance at Columbia ED. U Chicago cares a lot about essays, so if they were good then you have a shot of getting in.

Thanks for the reply! I’ve written about my rock band in my main essay and supplement essays. HI could be a leverage because few people apply ED to CC or Uchi every year.

And I have chanced back.

Columbia is a reach for anyone, but you have a better chance than me. Uchi (Which I’m guessing is University of Chicago) Is a match, I know somebody who got in last year who didn’t have EC’s or Grades as good as you.

columbia: high match/low reach

Columbia: Mid Reach
UChi: Low Reach (I want to say high match, but I really can’t b/c its so hard to predict!)
