Please chance my sister!

Hey guys,

My sister is too lazy to make a CC account. So as the kind brother I am, I have made this thread for her. NYU is her dream school and she plans on majoring in journalism. She is an international applicant from a Canadian public school. She will applying ED

Here are her stats:

GPA: 3.7

Academic rigor: AP Literature & Composition; our public school is also one of the very competitive ones in the province. She has taken Canadian honors equivalent courses (gifted) in English, Math, and science.

SAT score: 2250

SAT II scores:
Biology E - 750
Literature - 750

Extracurriculars:

Class president
Head of photography department on yearbook committee
Columnist for high school newspaper
Founder/coordinator/president of mental health awareness student organization
Executive of human rights awareness club
Executive member of provincial Model Parliament
Member of city youth council
Youth leader volunteer for special needs children ministry at church

She is a stellar writer (top mark in her AP English class), and I believe her essays will be phenomenal. She is going to get a letter of recommendation from her AP English teacher, history teacher (also best mark in class) and our vice principal who was associated with the her mental health awareness organization.

Please let me know where you think she stands in the competition. She is quite worried about her grades. She will be applying ED. If you could, please provide any other schools that are well reputed and strong in journalism. She was thinking Boston College, Boston University, and Cornell. Her ultimate dream is to get into Columbia Journalism grad school.

Thank you so much for your time!!!

Is that GPA unweighted?

It is Weighted

are you applying this coming semester aka are you class of 2014?

Yes, class of 2014. Since we’re from Canada, our school doesn’t use the GPA system. But I converted her grades so that it would be more understandable for American CCer’s. She has an 85% cumulative average, so I took into account the rigor of Canadian school curriculum.

Bumpbumpbump

Did she get in? Is she from Ontario? I’m from Canada too! :D

musicandlife, no, she hasn’t even applied yet. Have you gotten in already? How?
