please check my (or anyone's) schedule!

i'm undeclared warren freshmen!

Warren Writing 10A
COGS 1
POLI 10
MUS 126

i'm just taking all my GEs and trying to find what i want to major in! MUS 126 also counts as cultural diversity credit! and as one of my music POFCs! Will this schedule be doable? too easy?

that should be a good schedule.

there’s no such thing as “too easy” at ucsd hahaha. it looks good to me too

ahaha…okay! i was embarrassed that it would be tooo easy compared to others but nvm!!!

are POLI 10 and COGS 1 popular classes? if so, i was thinking to replace POLI 10 to either 11 or 12 and COGS1 to ENV30!

POLI 10 is a really popular class. I took POLI 11 and it was a TONNNN of reading but it was really interesting. You really can’t go wrong with either :)

I looked up TDAC1 (intro to acting) on the schedule of classes on Tritonlink and it already said that the 9 classes were full and had at least 5 people on the waitlist for each. Can this be true?

sorry if this question sounds stupid…
is cogsci similar to biology?

@Triton2014
i heard that there will be more seats open when it comes to freshmen enrollment!

@GravityxZero35
i don’t think they are similar! if you go to class planner course descriptions for cogsci, there are infos about what the class will be teaching etc.

-i heard that ENV30 is difficult as well! anyone know how this course is?

Should I be ready with an alternate schedule when I register? If the schedule still says the classes are full should I try registering for them anyway or just go with something different?

i think we should have many alternative schedules just in case… my enrollment time is sept 3 so…i definitely need like ten thousand lol

you don’t need a ton of extra schedules. just pick a few classes to replace the ones that are full/close to full, just in case.

Is there any way to decide whether to waitlist a class or give up and register an alternate class?

I hope people with late registration times (sep 2 for me) can get into Warren writing -_-…

The general rule is 10% of people in a class will drop. So for example if it’s a 300-person lecture, expect 30 people to drop. Thus, if you are #30 or below on the waitlist, it’s “safe” to say you’ll get in.

I LOVE waitlisting and promote it endlessly on CC. I waitlist every quarter, sometimes all of my classes, and have always gotten into them.

Sidenote, when I first registered as a freshman, I had 10 alternate class schedules. hahahaha. Unnecessary. Have a few alternate options but you don’t need a ton.

And @triton2014, you won’t be able to enroll if it’s full, but you can waitlist.

sorry for hijacking your thread OP, but how does the POFCs work and how do areas of study work for engineering students in Warren.

wait! there is a chance that a freshman can’t get into Warren writing cos of late enrollment time??? i thought there was plenty of warren writing…oh no… i have sept 3rd!

@mccormickt12
The Warren handbook/catalogue thing shall be your friend ;).

@yunjh2725
I’ve heard that some people had to wait till winter quarter to start Warren writing :/

so the schedule we sign up for is ONLY for the fall correct?
should we plan out classes for all 3 quarters ahead of time or just for fall? because of the series and stuff…

Yeah you’re ONLY signing up for fall classes now, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to plan the rest of your year now. Things might change, keep that in mind.

@GravityxZero35

If you want to plan ahead a little bit, you can check out the department websites. They usually have a list of what classes they will offer for the year.

@ucsandiego915

It’s all fun and games until you don’t get into a class after being #1 on the waitlist.
