about my experience and perhaps an anecdote from the saturday school that I volunteer at each week as a Teacher’s Aide… it’s a school for mentally & physically disabled adults
And/Or about how it inspired me to want to become a special education teacher

A conflict I had in the middle of the night in my junior year during my school spring trip where all three of my roommates turned against me because of my announcing myself as a Jesus Freak (I’m a Christian and they all were, too, but perhaps they were freaked out by how devoted I was), and how I resolved that conflict.

How I came to decide to major in English despite it being my 2nd language, as I immigrated 10 years ago from a country halfway around the world. (cliche?)
also a chunk about coping with a father with alcoholism and maybe another bit about juggling 3 part-time jobs in senior year to support the family (does that sound like a sob story?) and how those pushed me to want to pursue English/Ed

The he*l of a time I had during junior year as a publicist for 3 different clubs and also as numerous other leadership positions in other major time-consuming e.c’s as well (orchestra, journalism, ROTC, etc), and how that taught me about humility, sacrifice, and time management

impact of journalism and working at the local newspaper on my outlook of our world (I’m not entirely sure how to expand on this, though)

I don’t know which ones I’ll use for Common App and which ones I’ll use for UC apps, but basically I’m applying to the following schools as an English or Education major-
Columbia College, Williams, Washington U in St. Louis, Occidental, Amherst (maybe), Brown (maybe)
UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Riverside

I know I’ll do topic #1 for sure though… it was something I always wanted to write about, and it seems like a pretty good topic…? But I’m not sure which ones are really appropriate or not appropriate, especially for some of the schools I’m applying to.
As a FYI, I’m relatively comfortable with my writing skills… I keep a blog if you want to take a real quick look at how I write: [moni__ca’s Xanga Site](http://www.xanga.com/moni__ca)

THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!!! I really appreciate your help!!!
