PLEASE critique my Extracurriculars!

So - here's the thing, because of family circumstances, I've had to babysit my younger sister since I was in 8th grade, every day, after school, from 2:15pm to 6:00pm - which prevented me from joining clubs or sports for the most part - so the majority of my EC's/Achievements took place during the summer.

Currently a Junior

Science/Technology Internship with Dell and Verizon Partnership (1 month)

Generation Citizen - Civics Day Representative at Boston City Year (On going year long project on proposed school budget, which I presented by myself, to a City Year Council)

Model United Nations Summer Assembly at Harvard University Business School (1 week)

Tutoring Pre-Alg and Algebra I to Middle Schoolers through my school's Math Enrichment Program (1 month)

Youth In Government at my local YMCA (on-going)

These are basically all I have. No sports. No Key Club. Nothing else. I'm not looking for Ivy League schools - I have a decent GPA (~3.65 and rising) and my test scores are fine - all I wanted to know is if my EC's are "good" too.

you need more leadership

Well - for the science and technology initiative - I was the head of most of the projects - but there weren’t any “leadership positions” per se - it was more of us learning about different computer programs, etc…

For generation citizen - I was in charge of 30 students and oversaw the entire project, and was in charge of presenting it to the board. Basically I was the only person who was permitted to go to the City Year headquarters in order to present it, and I single handedly created the presentation/powerpoint itself

No real leadership in Model UN - mostly just learning modules on public speaking, world affairs, etc - lots of note taking. I did win, however, the title “Secretary General.” But that didn’t really entail much besides the fancy title… lol.

Tutoring - I was the only tutor, I tutored 10 students, created projects and presentations with them, and had little supervision by a teacher, most of the time, it was just me, one on one, with the students.

Youth in Government - yeah, I kinda need to hop on the leadership bandwagon with this one, haha. :)

those programs you were in the lead for i would talk about in your common app extracurricular essay and i think you would be set! :)

Really, if people are on here saying their ECs are inadequate even though they’ve had an internship and proposed projects to their city council and done something at Harvard…I’m screwed.

well the internship was 1 month, and the thing at Harvard wasn’t that big of a deal, Harvard was just kind of the site for it

the city council thing is pretty impressive
