Please Give Your Advice!!!!

ok i signed up for the math II sat and teh Lit sat for saturday.

despite being a better english student i tend to score lower on english standerized tests. I got a 600 (going to of course retake to get a 700) on the CR section of the SAT. I am seriously debating not taking lit on sat and just math...however this means self-studying/revieiwing us history for the fall test date. (i took a practice test with no prep..and i havent had us hist in over a yr...and got a 620so i figure that if i prep i can get in teh 700s)...

that being said

should i go ahead an take the lit test and if i do horrible (althoough my fist practice tests were in the 670s i have since decreesed to the low 500s!!! [yeah..imagine how i feel]) retake it in the fall..or take us hist so that iwll have at least 2 great scores or should i just not take lit at all......

please respond...and i hope this is coherent...i am a little flustered!

If you really don't want to take the Lit test, do some quick prep for the US and take that instead Saturday. That way, you don't lose you're money since you can switch tests if you want when you show up.

I agree with GinPA; just not taking the test is a bad idea as it wastes money.

i did over 50 points better on my sat II lit then i did on my verbal on sat I so i'd advise on giving it a try

ahhh...quick prep..i am jr..and in our school us history is offered 1st and 2nd trimesters sophmore year and tehre is no ap us hist..it's just honors....

for lit..if i do really really bad.....but then do well on us hist in the fall .....so i would tehn have a hopefully good math score and a good hist score with the horrible lit score.....would that look ok???...like would my bad lit score look like..oh she must have had a bad day (plus i hopefully will by then hav a 700 cr score)

also..in the above senerio i could retake teh lit test and possibly up it....but i would still have a horrible score under my belt....oy...i dunno

Well, for me my CR score was a whole 110 points higher than my Lit score. So I'm not sure how well the CR-Literature correlation works. I tended to get high 700s on my Lit practice tests, but only got 690 on the November test. I agree that Lit is a very hard test because it is largely subjective. But you shouldn't feel like you're less prepared than others for it - especially since the CR-Lit correlation may not work for everyone.

i am in the exact same dilemma as you 2011, but in the opposite way. I'm very confident on the Lit test, but i'm also signed up for Math 2 this saturday. I know that if i took Math this saturday, i would barely scrape a 650, so I dont think its worth it to take it. When colleges get your score report, they get every SAT test you ever took. I think its better to not take the test and wait til the fall, because if you happen to score in the 500s, colleges will still see it (even if you retake and do better)

its not worth it to have a low score on your SAT report.

DH9800....good point....for your case though...hav u considered taking the math 1 on sat and then the math 2 in the fall...perhaps u can score really high on the math1 and then if u score slightly lower than u like on the math2 in the fall u will hav a fallback option!

yea ive though of that, but math I is mostly geometry, and i havent taken that in years. im in precalc now, thats why i wanted to take math ii.
