<p>Topic: What is your view of the claim that the opinion of the majority is not always right? Plan and write an esaay.....</p>
<p>The opinion of the majority may not always be the correct opinion. Sometimes, this may be attributed to the majority being less educated or simply because the minority is wiser. Also, the majority could be misled by false beliefs. As we have seen in history as well as todays politics, the voice of the minority is right in cases.</p>
<p>In the early 20th century, many physicists believed of a static universe. They believed that the universe was neither expanding nor compressing. It was Albert Einstein who had concluded that the universe is being compressed by gravity, and that the only reason it has not been compressed to a point where it would be minute is that the universe is simultaneously expanding. Einstein's belief is widely held by physicists today. </p>
<p>In todays politics, most citizens in the United States follow the actions taken by the government. When a certain legislation is passed, many tend to disagree with it and begin to criticize the government. However, the President is in power for a reason. That reason is that he knows what is best for society. For example, when a law was passed to wear seatbelts, many were opposed, arguing that they have the self concious to wear seatbelts themselves. However, not everyone will and that will cause problems to others such as insurance companies. In this scenario, the majority do not know what is best for society the way the minority do, as they are not viewing the situation passed themselves. Thus, allowing the people to vote in order to abolish laws they do not feel fit would be doing more harm than good.</p>
<p>As see from the examples, the majority is not always correct. Most physicists were misled by a common belief which Einstein felt the need to challenge. Also, the majority of citizens may not know what is best for the society because they are not well informed. There are always areas in society which are widely misled. It is the minority who discover the truth or the ideal situation and do what is best for society.</p>
