PLEASE HELP CSS DUE IN A FEW DAYS

I have a pair of divorced parents. My mom already filled out the CSS profile with me on MY collegeboard account. I asked my dad to fill it out too after sending the email to him through MY account. Once he got the email, it told him to fill it out but there was no link or anything that let him fill the form out. I’m very confused, because I checked my collegeboard account and there was nowhere for parent two to fill out the form again. It almost seemed as if my dad had to create a completely different collegeboard account. PLEASE HELP.

When you fill out the CSS, there is a place to list your non-custodial parent’s name and contact information, particularly email address. Once you have submitted your CSS form, he should get an email that tells him how to fill out his portion. I believe they give him a separate number so that he can’t see your mom’s information and vice versa.

Thanks for the reply! I’m with my noncustodial parent right now and looking at the email collegeboard sent him. There was no number or any identifying information that would link his information to me. It just told him to log into collegeboard or make a new account. There were no specific directions. I am unable to submit my CSS profile without his information, so I’m very confused.

Here are the directions as to how to do this:

Thank you so much! This was not linked in the email.

I’m so sorry to keep asking questions, but it seems like a lot of information is missing. My noncustodial parent never recieved any type of password for the CSS, and now it’s prompting me for one. Why was there no information in the notification email?

From the link inside the link I posted:

The Noncustodial PROFILE Process - Step-By-Step
1.Download the Instructions and Pre-Application Worksheet from the Home Page. Most applicants find that completing the Pre-Application Worksheet speeds up the online process considerably.
2.Sign in to the NCP Application using your son’s or daughter’s CSS ID and the initial password that he or she received in his or her online acknowledgment and email, or you received in the notification email.
3.Create a new password as part of the initial sign in process. By changing the password, you can ensure that your information will remain secure.
4.Complete the Noncustodial PROFILE Application using your completed Pre-Application Worksheet and the navigation and completion tips below. Help for specific questions can be found by clicking each question’s Help button, by using the Search Help feature, and by reviewing information in the Help Desk.
5.Review your completed application by clicking on “Print/Review Application.” Once you have submitted your application, you cannot change any of the data you have provided.
6.Submit your completed application. The submit process will prompt you to complete any required fields that you have left blank and will note any possible discrepancies in the information you provided.
7.Complete the payment process. A valid credit or debit card is required. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. When you click submit at the end of this process, you are submitting your payment and application information for processing.
8.Print or save your Noncustodial PROFILE Acknowledgment for your records.

Hi, yes I read this. In order to sign into the NCP application, it needed my CSS ID and initial password. My CSS ID came back as invalid and the initial password was never recieved in the email, meaning something went wrong. I also found information online about having to make a seperate collegeboard account for my noncustodial parent, but this seems to be a little weird. The College Board has a good help line. Give them a call.

The College Board help line for CSS Profile doesn’t operate on weekends.

Hi there! I experienced the exact same thing and was able to solve it. Forget ALL of the other advice given above, as I have tried all of that too, and it did not work. When you click on the link provided above, it says “If you have been notified to complete a 2018-19 CSS Profile as a noncustodial parent, please go to cssprofile.org.” so I suppose(d) Collegeboard has changed its methods.

How to ‘fix’ the problem/complete the CSS profile for your noncustodial parent:

After completing YOUR CSS profile (where you filled in the information for your custodial parent), you end up at a page where you get access to IDOC*** and can send an email to your noncustodial parent (which you have already done, if I’m right) that functions as a request to fill in the CSS. In the email my noncustodial parent got, it said that he should go to the website of Collegeboard, create an account and fill in the information. That was it… lol.

Now, assuming you have already sent that email, go to the collegeboard website and create a STUDENT account for your dad. You have to fill in YOUR information at the ‘General Student Information’ (so name, date of birth, high school graduation, sex etc), BUT you have to enter your noncustodial parent’s email. So: all of the data is the same as on your account, except the email address. Now, for the next section (Username and password), choose the username you want for your noncustodial parent and a password for him or her (don’t forget the security question, too). Leave the last section - Parent information - empty. Do not fill in anything there. Now you just click on submit, after clicking the box that says you agree to the terms of service bla bla bla.

Once you have created an account for your noncustodial parent, go to the CSS Profile site of Collegeboard: https://cssprofile.collegeboard.org/, scroll all the way down and click on ‘Sign in 2018-2019’. Now, you should be able to fill in the CSS forms needed. At the first part - student information - just enter your information again (including YOUR email address). Now, it’s basically the same as filling in the information for your custodial parent, just other $$$ figures. When it asks who your parents are, fill in their names and click on the name of your noncustodial parent (or the box next to their name…) when it asks for whom this CSS Profile will be submitted. Fill in all of the other information, like assets et cetera, submit the CSS profile and you should be done.

Don’t worry about the matching process (where they link it to your CSS profile). They use all of your information to connect the two CSS Profiles, just like colleges match your application with your ACT and/or SAT scores. After all, there is probably only one person in the world with your name, date of birth, school, graduation date, address etc, and that person is you. After you have filled in the information for your noncustodial parent, you end up at the same page as you ended up on on your own CSS account, but without the IDOC and ‘send your noncustodial parent an email’ parts. Also, after submitting, you should receive an email stating your noncustodial parent has submitted the CSS profile.

*** This is the site where you have to upload your parents’ tax returns: if they’re not in English, print them and write next to all of the $$$ figures what they mean. Now, once you have done that, take a very good picture or scan it. Once on your laptop/computer, convert the file to pdf and you’ll be able to upload the files.

Hope this helped! Please, if you need any help and/or have any questions, do not hesitate to ask! Good luck

You’re a lifesaver! I just tried this and it seems to have worked. Thank you so so much, I was so confused because this years process seems to have been different. Thank you again!!!

Hi there! I’m facing a lot of trouble completing the non-custodial profile for 2018-19 myself. My problem starts with the ‘Parental Information’ screen; the parents I live with and the parent I’m filling NCP for are clearly different, but unless I click that both the parents I live with and the ones whose information will be provided are the same, the profile does not let me progress any further, but isnt that the same as naming my ncp as my custodial parent??
Also, what do I do about the Additional Parent Section in the NCP? Do I name my mother, who is my custodial parent?

I’m really worried as these are due very soon. Please help!

Your non-custodial parent should be completing this form.

Why are you doing it?

I have all their accurate, updated information, as they’re very busy with work; they insisted I fill it up on their behalf. Please help me out if you can!

HELP pleeease!

Well, I did what you’ve said, creating the collegeboard account for my non custodial parent, but it says on the CSS that “As of this time, the student has not selected a college that requires your information.
Once the student makes such a selection, you will receive an email notification to complete your application at that time.” Which is weird because the college that I selected ask for the non custodial parent to fill a CSS profile too! ://

Maybe it’s because I did not completed (SUBMIT) the profile of my custodial parent yet?? HELP please! :’(

You need to submit the custodial parent Profile…first.

Get that done.

At this point, the College Board has NO colleges on record for you because YOU haven’t submitted the custodial parent form.

@thedukeof and next time…start your own thread!

@thumper1 alright thanks! And sorry, I thought we were all dealing with the same problem
