Hi, I'm currently attending Virginia Tech for engineering. I'm doing well in the program so far, but every night I always wish I had attended a different school. I chose VT over Georgia Tech, and quite honestly, I wish I was at Georgia Tech. I regret my decision all the time.

I made my decision mostly on money (Georgia Tech cost $10,000 more than VT per year),but I miss the fell of Georgia Tech when I visited it.

As a side note, although I'm doing well in engineering here, I really want to major in math. I've always loved math so much, but I never majored in it because my parents told me I'd end up being a teacher (which I don't want to do)

I feel like I've made so many bad decisions. I just wish I had chosen Georgia Tech for math...

Any thoughts?

I would try transfer for junior as a math major to GT if you are in your second year at VT. GT accepts transfer student.

I say you transfer out. I was at BC and when I realized I wanna study Engineering instead of Math, I transferred to WPI simply because I liked it over other higher ranked schools like BU and NEU and WPI offered me less money than those two schools. It’s all about how happy ur since as an Engineering major ur gonna spend the last 2 yrs working on group projects. It’s hard to like ur group peers if u don’t like the school (atleast was for me). On top of that, GTech has a pretty good job placement. So do what u please, but keep the GPA up wherever u go.

Math majors often head into finance and actuarial jobs after graduation. Some do computer software. Obviously, a few courses in those areas of application can help if you want to major in math and are considering those types of careers.

You can always apply to transfer and change degrees. As stated previously, many math majors go into finance and actuarial science; pursue advance degrees in applied mathematics, or go to Law School. Look at [U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics](http://www.bls.gov) Occupational Outlook Handbook.
