Jan. 3 Transfer applicants for fall 2017: Deadline extension
Transfer applicants have additional time to apply to UC. Some majors will close after Nov. 30.
I wouldn’t wait if I were you.
Haas is Nov 30.
Nothing at UC Berkeley is the November 30 deadline. The “priority registration period” is for schools that accept TAG, which Berkeley does not.
If you wish to double check, give the Haas undergraduate office a call: (510) 642-1421.
Just spoke with the assistant director of admission at Haas. January 3rd is the deadline for transfer applications to Haas.
Yes I called as well and they confirmed that. Thanks
Good to know! However, it also says this somewhere in the FAQs:
"Is there an advantage to applying by November 30?
Although the transfer application review process will not begin any sooner than normal, our data show that students that applied during November were admitted at a higher rate last year than applicants who submitted during the extension. In addition, some majors will likely fill up with those who have applied during the priority application period. As a result, it is in an applicant’s best interest to apply by the original deadline if possible."
I’ve seen that and I think it is causing a lot of the questions. From what I’ve been told, the “priority application period” pertains to the schools with TAG programs. Majors at Berkeley, I’ve been told, will all begin reading their applications at the same time after the January update. If that’s the case, there wouldn’t be an advantage. I haven’t specifically asked this question to Haas, but it was an admissions officer for Berkeley. Next time I run into some of the undergraduate staff at Haas I’ll ask.
I do, however, absolutely agree to just get an application submitted sooner rather than later. Obviously there’s no advantage in waiting.
@briank82, let us know what they say. IMHO this extension stuff is stupid. Create a date, whichever one they want, and stick with it.
